AL Wildcard with 9 left-

Bos 88-65 (vs NY, at Bal, at Was)

NY 86-67 (at Bos, at Tor, vs TB)

Tor 85-68 (at Min, vs NY,  vs Bal)

Sea 84-69 (at LAA, vs Oak, vs LAA)

Yankees really control their own destiny - finish the season with 3 at Boston and then 3 at Toronto. Their two series will really shake that wildcard picture

Very good chance the Astros overtake the Rays for the 1 seed.. Who would you guys prefer?

The Astros losing last night was pretty big for them in their pursuit for the top seed. Sox will more than likely be there in two weeks. That said, I would prefer the Rays for no other reason than I hate the Astros and don’t want to watch them play the Sox unless it’s the ALCS.

Would much rather face the Astros. The Rays are scarier, IMO. Also, it would give me great pleasure knowing we knocked out the team that put a horrible black eye on Major League Baseball. Also, LaRussa vs Dusty? Like the old Cardinal-Cubs rivalry days? How can you not like that drama? Bring on the 'Stros!

This is what Astros TV thinks our starting line-up will look like against them.

TLR playing 4D Chess with TWO Centerfielders and no one at 3rd! Brilliant!

So we are playing 4 of's, no 3b, and someone known as ronnie gonzalez. Collins cathing LOL.

Tony would never do this, the shift is unsportsmanlike. 😀

Two potential clinches today - Tampa Bay in the AL East and Milwaukee in the NL Central. Houston has a magic # of 3 in the AL West

Houston is 4 behind Tampa and 4 ahead of the Sox for playoff seeding.

Boston is now 1 ahead of New York in the wild card race, with Toronto and Seattle both 2 behind the Yankees. Oakland is 4 back.

In the National League, Atlanta now only up 1.5 over Philadelphia in the East, and San Francisco up by 1 over Los Angeles in the West, with the Giants and Dodgers already locked into the postseason. St. Louis has put an absolute strangle hold on the second wild card spot, now up 5 over Philly, 6 over Cincinnati and 7 over San Diego.

Weekend series with the biggest impact have the Yankees at Boston, Toronto at Minnesota, Pittsburgh at Philly and Atlanta at San Diego.

Tampa Bay is the second team to clinch a division title. Milwaukee and Houston can both join that club today.

Yankees need to sweep Boston tonight. Unfortunately for NY, their next 3 are at Toronto while Boston and Sale open a 3 game at O's. That is a great race between those 3.
