9/1 game thread Sox vs Pirates 7:10 first pitch

Recommended Posts

Tony LaRussa nailed it on Gavin Sheet in the Spring.

Said something about wishing to be his agent.

Many of us were like, WTF?

Tony knows this game.

For real.  They jettisoned dudes in the end anyway, would have been nice to have his bat the past month.

And he barely played.

In his last 13 games before he was sent down, he hit .200 with a .538 OPS, so there were some struggles at the time.

That was a nice long at bat by Sheets...fouled off until he got his pitch.

Brian Goodwin last 28 days: .589 OPS. Couple that with his poor defense and baserunning and they can DFA him to activate Engel.

Brian will probably hit another walk off to save his butt.

He had some really bad ABs with runners on base towards the end of his stint. Was way too anxious and swung at everything. Good to see he didn't have that problem in the 5th today.

True, and maybe Charlotte did him some good.  But the power still woulda/coulda helped the big club.

Alford kind of looks like Josh Donaldson with his stance and leg kick.

This team didn't need power, it needed people to get on base. They hit a ton of home runs but they stopped working counts.

Sheets being sent down was the right move and he's come back refreshed and out of his funk.
