So this one is a bit in the eye of the beholder ... if you just go on results you might quickly say Rodon or Lynn. You might say Abreu.

That said, I think it's deeper than that.

Without Eloy and Robert we had no DH and no LF going into the year. Where would this team be without that amazing April by Yermin?

How about Rodon? With him as our #5 coming into the season I'd guess we were all expecting 15-20 starts of 4.50ERA ball. It's hard to imagine where we are without him.

Lynn? He might win the Cy Young, but the expectations were higher. Personally I'd say Rodon was more important to this team.

Same with Abreu - it's so consistent it's almost boring, but he puts up numbers.

The bench squad? Nothing about Billy Hamilton is sexy, but it's hard to argue the importance of those guys throughout the whole season.

Lopez is a late entry. He didn't really come in at a time when wins mattered as much, but he's handled himself quite well.

So it's a bit objective of how you look at this team. Will be interested to see the results. my personal order ... and thought process, if you take that guy away, who was the most important to our current success?

I'd go:

Rodon

Anderson

Abreu

Yermin

Lynn

Bench Mob

Two of the top three players aren't even options. Hard pass on voting.

Yeah my thought was Yoan and that was before I looked at this.

Sorry to offend you so much with a poll. Hope you can push through and have a great weekend ... :)

Feel free to write your vote in. I'll make sure to count it into the imaginary soxtalk votes that are registered to the fake mvp award that is (not) awarded to any player in the end.

Availability is key for me.

Abreu has taken a beating all season, he answers the bell every time.

That's an MVP for me.

Ya, it's tough argue that he hasn't been the glue through it all. I chose Rodon, but that's in part against expectations and how much he has helped this team against our normal #5 starter we've become accustom to over the past 20 years.

I’ll take the bench mob. I know they are infuriating to watch when they are in the lineup everyday, but they’ve each had some big moments and despite missing half our team for half the season running away with a division, however bad, is no small feat. A lot of credit to the plug and play nature of the lineup.

Abreu shows up every day and consistently gets the big knock.  Anderson seems to inject life into the whole team.  Roden stabilized the starting staff from out of nowhere.  I won't argue with any of them being labeled as most important to this years success.

Lynn wasn't a sure thing in our park.  People were concerned he'd give up a ton of homers.

Carlos was a GREAT unexpected addition, but Lynn solidified the rotation and dominated in a season where our ace was having a down year.
