Jimmy Muscles to NYY on minors deal. Kinda sad. Was a big fan.

Yup, just saw that as well. Was looking forward to seeing how he did when not used every single game.

Sox fan on Faceback explaining the Sox have Reylo to take Jimmy's spot. Incredible depth.

Buck Showalter is the new Mets manager. Three year deal. Won the Manager of the Year award in 1994, 2004, 2014.

Buck actually follows the hitting charts. I predict success in a division of parity.

Renteria abused the living hell out of Cordero. Feel bad for the guy. He literally pitched half the games that season.

Omicron is rapidly overtaking the lockout as the prevailing concern as we approach mid-January.

They're going to have to dramatically change the testing procedures and protocols like the NFL and NBA are currently attempting to do on the fly or there won't be a viable spring training.

Things are starting to move much faster than bureaucrats can react in real-time, and seemingly no one wants to take responsibility...leaving things basically up to fate.

I don't see how they have a season at all, and quite frankly I don't see how the CBA can even be discussed with Omicron floating around with an R0 that may be greater than or equal to Measles. This could be the most infectious disease in modern history.

This is a January-February 2020 moment where nobody knows what's about to happen. It's really too bad we have a culture that will not tolerate what is necessary.

The rapid spread of the new virus will make it impossible. We're already seeing what's going on in the NBA and NHL. It's becoming nearly impossible to field a team.

Sports are about to be shut down again. Just a matter of time.

Not necessarily.  The rules and guidelines will just need to be changed.   In all the winter sports, players are losing playing time when being vaccinated or being asymptomatic despite not being sick.   That needs to change.   Even if it comes down to only allowing vaccinated players to participate, that will get done before losing any games on the schedule.

Then they better only allow vaccinated fans in the arenas and stadiums.

When the health system becomes overwhelmed again, we'll be right back to March-April 2020. We're about 3-6 weeks away from that.

I hate to be alarmist, but I don't think many really grasp what's about to happen. Just like 2 years ago.

It's going to be a crap winter until the omicron-specific booster comes out.

Maybe if the new booster is out by February they'll be able to start on time, if they can come up with a new CBA. Once the owners see what happens this winter, they probably won't even discuss economics until the new booster is available.

No, not really.

The good news is that unlike two years ago, we have the tech and know how to vaccinate people who want it ASAP.

People have to pretty much accept that we're going to need updated mRNA vaccines probably biannually until this thing peters out, which we don't know how that will happen.

Until then, we're going to be doing the dance of shutdowns and re-openings.

In 2020, you told us it would be years until we played anyway.

That is a guy I was hoping the Sox would talk to last offseason.  Would happily take Kotsay over Old Man River.
