You'll see a whole page of "take him out" or "FUCK" and the Sox will be leading 5-1.

You are spot on there....hoping to see the following phrases among others:

Pasta Time

Jose!!

He Gone

La Pantera!!!

Bat Drop

Find a free trial for one of these streaming services, really isn't that difficult

Not difficult for the kinds of people who post on message boards.  But prohibitively difficult for a huge swath of the potential baseball-watching population.  A lot of people dramatically underestimate how difficult it is for a lot of fans, especially older fans, to negotiate the ever-evolving technological landscape -- and they're not going to do it for a damn baseball game.  Lots of folks just turn on the TV and try to find the game, and those people should be able to watch the game too.  "Just find a streaming service that offers a free trial, set up an account, and cancel the trial when the trial period ends" -- great, you lost 35% of people at "streaming".

I don't disagree with you, just giving a solution to the people on this message board who are saying they won't be able to watch or find an illegal stream

Yep, appreciated.  And I don't disagree that it's not that difficult for those of us who have set up Soxtalk accounts 😉

About 5 years ago, my parents finally joined the 21st century and switched from Xfinity to streaming. Then about 2 years ago, Xfinity came out with their own streaming option, and my parents switched back mainly because my Dad likes WGN and the Weather Channel and those seem to be uncommon on other streaming packages for some reason. So we have MLBN. They also ran a special where if you get internet/TV/mobile package there's a discount.

This is an absolute joke.  Really feel for those who can't watch.  No local fan should be shut out of a playoff game.

Fans have been shut out of all but a few games this season. Radio works for me, with highlights free on MLB after, or may hit a bar.

I suggest folks don’t click those pirate sites unless they don’t give a shit about getting malware and viruses.

MLB wonders why their viewership is underwhelming. THIS hoop jumping surely doesn't help. I pay 120 bucks a year for MLB.tv and they don't give a crap.

It is completely asinine that in 2021, a fan can’t go on MLB.com, type in a credit card number, and have an option to watch any damn game they please, either a la carte, for a whole season for any team, or all teams. Period.

You want to know why football and basketball have left you in the dust decades ago? It’s asinine game stewardship like MLB broadcast policy that shuts out fans willing to pay.

Live in Vegas or Iowa or other places, you’re blacked out for up to six teams (though you can at least go to a Sportsbook in Vegas).

Yep!  Living in Iowa gets you buried in blackouts!  Ridiculous!  And they are trying to grow the game?

And even dumber...if someone living in Iowa happened to be a fan of the Tigers or Indians...and subscribed to MLB.tv they would get blacked out of every game the their favorite team played against the 6 teams blacked out in Iowa (3 divisional rivals...so a lot of games)!  They would pay a full rate but not be able to watch 3/4ths of their favorite team's divisional games!  How many games do Central division teams play against each other?  Just flat out ripping the customer off!

Going to be out of town Friday-Sunday myself, looks like you can watch MLB Network on your MLB app by clicking More, MLB Network, then logging in with your pay cable provider login details to confirm your package includes MLB network.  All fine and well, except I have Comcast/Xfinity cable and the app doesn't support it.  Looks like I'll either be signing up for a free trial of Youtube TV or stealing a buddies Youtube TV login credentials.  My favorite part of this is I should just be able to login to watch live TV on the Xfinity app, but the majority of channels don't work unless connected to your home Wifi, like wtf is the point then?

If you check baseball’s free fall ratings decline over the past few decades, there are fewer customers each year.

Jerry and his fellow RSN owners are fleecing what they can off the remaining dying cable audience, many of whom don’t even watch their shitty broadcasts, too cheap to send their announcers to half the games.

Their most recent brilliant ideas, kill 42 minor league franchises to destroy fan interest further in those communities, and lock out players for 2/3 of the season.

Next on tap, a 2022 lockout followed by a permanent devaluation of the regular season, but not before their drunk commissioner hands out “the piece of metal”.

Damn really?  I've tried that and it still tells me to connect to my home WiFi, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense cause ESPN and a bunch of other channels are working fine.

I have Comcast as well, it I get the same error when trying to stream MLB network. Says I have to be on home wifi.

I have a 6 hour drive I gotta make Fri. Was planning to get up early and get drive out of way before the game.  But going to small town that won’t have sports bar and potentially not being able to find an easy stream like I would on other channels. Fuck it - I’ll make the drive after the game. Terrible situation - but not a chance I am missing even a pitch of this game.

Without a legend this map doesn't relate much relevant info. Are New Mexico and Utah Out of the picture?  What's up with Seattle or Maine?

There is a legend, you have to zoom in to see text. Seattle and surroundings have mlb.tv local blackouts for the Mariners, Maine is for Boston only.

I'm zooming and still not seeing a legend through Firefox. Whatever...
The entire notion of blacking out non-soldout games is a futile attempt at drawing attendance. I'd argue that maximizing media coverage will *increase* attendance over the long term.

Oh I agree. It’s 100% why I’m not a big Blackhawk’s fan. Hard to get into hockey while growing up when it’s not on TV and the other team sharing that stadium had this one really good player.

Youtube TV carries MLB Network.

That's what i'm using . they have every channel that the games will be on, and you can record them to watch later if you want . i'm not sure if they have a free preview right now, but when you go to signup it will say if it does.

Hawks regained popularity after they started broadcasting games locally, after old man Wirtz passed away.

MLB is in the stone ages. I know nobody will feel sorry for me in Hawaii, but we are blacked out for 5 teams.... not one of which is within 2,500 miles of us! Add to that, 3 of their RSN's aren't even available in Hawaii. Just idiotic. And before we heap praise on football, unless you subscribe to DirecTv satellite service (not new streaming service) you're back in the 70's watching your local game on CBS or Fox. Being a Bears fan in Hawaii means we MIGHT see 4 games a year. I know, maybe that's a blessing these days but I'd like the choice.
