Rodon is going to get a lot more than we thought.

And you can start the Correa/Seager/Story/Baez watch over in Detroit.

Tigers
“Very little was expected of the Tigers in 2021, and a 77-win record didn’t exactly put them in the playoff hunt. But they were three games over .500 from May 1 forward, and they are at the stage of their rebuild period where their top prospects are ready to graduate to the big leagues and it’s time to turn the corner. The Tigers are already a highly cited potential pursuer of the top end of the shortstop market, but they also have plenty of opportunity in the rotation and at catcher. Overall, this could be a winter similar to the one prior to 2004, when the Tigers signaled they were ready to roar and kicked off what became a highly successful era with the signing of Ivan Rodriguez.”

It seems like they're already out on Carlos Correa though according to reports. They aren't willing to go $300 million.

It's funny how what you have you done for me lately the pitching offseason market is.

I swear that Rodriguez got this hot market for his last 2 innings of work where he looked incredible. And the important thingi s that isn't necessarily wrong, the pop-up guys have fared pretty decently on their next contracts. Smyly wasn't amazing but he was an important part of the bullpen.

FWIW, MLBTR predicted 5/$70M ($14M AAV) and FG crowdsourcing picked 4/$72M ($18M AAV).  So AAV is right in the middle of both with MLBTR hitting the year total.

Can you provide a link for FG? I can't seem to find it, use this each offseason: https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/free-agent-tracker

Thanks!

Tigers are gonna spend alot of money this offseason.

Remember the formula for a long-term run here for the Sox.  Build from within with the trades and drafts.  Then spend on key FAs.  But in the end, spend.  The tigers will spend.  We will see if the sox will as well.  Or our reign in the central will be over just as quickly as it was in the early 90s.

I’m less threatened by the Tigers and more concerned that the AL is going to be insanely loaded the next few years with so many more teams trying to win.

Yeah, though, who knows if that is more or less favorable for winning a world series as it prevents the super loading of teams. Sox I feel have a high floor which helps.
