Watch the way most pitchers are finishing now. They stand nearly straight up and dissipate the forces by spinning on their plant leg. This was mostly developed by Mike Marshall with some modifications. We used to teach bending forward and finishing with your head towards home plate so everything is going straight. There is more momentum when you spin so it increases velocity.
