I was just thinking of a time very late in Ray Meyer's coaching career at Depaul when his team was floundering in the NCAA tournament again. It was on a timeout and I guess his players were joking around so much in the huddle that he had to call them out "do you think this is funny?" Anyway I just thought about that because he was a legendary coach, up in years, who's teams had all the talent in the world but never really won a damn thing. The talent is more important than the manager but the most talented teams also need a good manager to win a World Series. Yankees are a great example. The Sox talent should be enough to get them into the playoffs. After that, talent, a good manager and some luck wins a championship.
