Dude had a baller game, good for him … losers stfu, sour 🍇

Don't throw cookies to a hot hitter is the lesson to be learned.  Beaning?  Not gonna happen.  We have guys who celebrate too much and so does most every other team.  TLR does nothing to rein our guys in.

Didn't TLR advocate for an opposing team hitting Mercedes

Why even do that?

Guaranteed Rate Field is a cashless facility, yet they have ATMs. Shouldn’t they have reverse ATMs where you could throw so,e cash in and out spits a card you can use to buy things?

We haven't used cash ONCE in the last 2 1/2 years here in China...everything through mobile phone QR codes.

Well one notable exception is wedding "red envelopes" or Hongbao for the bride and groom.  That has to be fresh new 100 RMB notes that add up to 6's or 8's.

I don't know about targeting the head, but going hard and well inside is part of the game - right?

If you're going in hard and inside to back a guy off the plate because he's getting too comfortable covering the outside corner that's perfectly fine.  But throwing at a guy because he celebrated after hitting two three run homers in a stunning comeback is just poor sportsmanship and BS.

It’s 2022, not 1966, why retaliate?

What a crazy entertaining game.  You can't win them all but wow, that was probably one of the harder ones.

From the Chicago Tribune:

According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Guardians were 1-626 when trailing by six or more runs in the ninth over the last 40 seasons.

The Indians were but not the Guardians.

Last night was more than painful. I honestly considered taking a break from baseball. No way the players aren't hurting right now. The 6 game streak was fun but it was still the Cubs and Red Sox, and we didn't score more than 4 in any game. Contention years are supposed to be fun and exciting. It feels like as fans we spend most of our time worrying about injuries and riding the roller coaster with this team that started after the ASB last year. Remember how much fun the Cubs fans had from 2015-2020. That is supposed to be us right now.

Tonight's game is honestly about as important as mid-May games get. Just a week ago, we (and Jason and Steve) were talking about how the 5 run ninth could spark the team, and we didn't even actually pull off that comeback win. The opposite can be true too. In 2016 we had a hot start and then blew a huge late lead to the Rangers. The team seemed to deflate and went into a tailspin for a couple of months, to the point that the front office eventually blew it all up and finally entered a full rebuild.

We really need to bounce back with a clean, well-played win today. If TLR has even a modicum of managerial magic left in him tonight is the night to show it, he better have the team ready to play.

Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be another "Jose Paniagua game" situation.
