"Eloy is a DH. TLR is an idiot for putting him in the field. He's gonna hurt himself"

"Grandal is an embarrassment behind the plate. The guy is a DH at this point in his career."

"Vaughn can't play the OF. TLR is a total moron for playing this guy in the OF"

"Vaughn needs to be in the lineup everyday. TLR is an idiot for benching him"

"Sheets can't play the OF. We're putting a DH in RF. Ridiculous."

No matter who Tony puts out there, someone will be out of position. This is a roster construction issue, not a managerial issue. Piss on Tony all you want but he has 5 DHs on the team. He can't make everyone happy.

Sounds like we're fucked.

Once again the team is relying on Cease to stop the pain! It sure would nice if some hitters on this team might want to contribute offensively tonight, especially after that anemic and embarrassing performance last night they gave Cueto.

Other than Robert's last at bat, he was extremely patient on all his plate appearances. If Robert, who is usually very undisciplined can adjust, then the rest of the team needs to try and be more patient and not continue to be the 30th ranked team in pitches per plate appearance and walks. Then maybe you guys can get some good hitting counts and quit swinging at pitches severely outside the zone.

Most importantly, can you guys please start hitting for power with doubles and home runs? You guys are embarrassing yourselves with the lack of power and production. Enough with the groundball outs and even the lucky groundball singles.

The entire team needs to put their big boy pants on tonight and be mentally tough like Cueto was last night.

I believe most here believe Hahn should have acquired a starting RF over the past three seasons. But given what they have, and the health and performance of everyone:

  1. Grandal should catch or sit or hit the IL. He should not DH. If he regains his health, he should catch more games.
  2. Vaughn should DH, with perhaps 1 weekly home start in LF to give Eloy a rest & at 1B (at any park) to give Abreu rest.
  3. Eloy, Robert and either Engel/Pollock/Leury left to right on your screen, should be your OF the rest of the season, based on the shitty Hahn options.
  4. Send Sheets down and bring up / claim someone who can actually play RF/CF, or Burger to spell Moncada who could perhaps use rest to clear his head and perhaps get him back on track. As long as Vaughn is on the active roster, Sheets should not be on the active roster.

Harrison is enough for third…but that requires Leury on the field…or at third resting Moncada as well.

Kind of a straw man argument. There’s enough in game decisions to deride TLR for before even talking about the lineups.

How is it a straw man argument? The topic is lineup construction and positioning of players, not talking about in-game decisions.

Need Sheets at home. He's the best hitter on the Sox wRC+ at home against RHP. Probably not even close but I haven't looked up all the others . Shouldn't play at all on the road.

Grandal playing anywhere now is highly questionable.  Only Abreu, Eloy , Robert ,Vaughn and ANderson should be in lineup every day but the whole Eloy, Vaughn, Abreu situation disrupts that to a degree. Pollock sure against LHP. questionable against RHP. It's always tough in games for Vaughn and Sheets in the OF when the ball finds you too much.

Wendle or Drury or both would've solved some IF problems .

Hahn has severe performance anxiety now.  Or just totally neutered.

The Guardians are ahead of the Sox with more rookies than they used in Chicago in 2012 trying to hold off Detroit...13 or so.

This was through June...6 more the last two months appeared.
