Chris Young's average is steadily rising and it appears he's cutting down on the strikeouts. I may have to get on the bandwagon soon.

This guy Wasserman has been lights out for Kanny, it'd be interesting to see him moved up a level or two since he's not a real young kid, 23 I think.

If Young indeed proves to be a legit CF prospect, that's very good news for the White Sox. He can hopefully push Brian Anderson and give the Sox some options.

Oh, and why did Haigwood only go 1 inning?

As I said there was a rain delay.

Winston-Salem got rained out. Sucks for them, a big crowd was expected being the 4th and all. They were going to have fireworks tomorrow anyway. BMac's Warthog debut will have to wait for a doubleheader tomorrow.

Young's definately got a chance to be a 20-20 guy possible 25-25 if he can get on a HR tear.

I know that he can hit HR's and he's a speedster, but how is his D? Range and arm?

I really like Gathright for the DRays AAA.

Tampa has a bright future, IMO.

Imagine him with Baldelli and Crawford in the outfield, stolen bases galore. Victor Zambrano has been great for them too, very unlucky not to be an all - star.

Yunior Novoa went 6 innings, giving up no hits for Bristol. He has been awesome so far this season. His ERA is 0.59. Unfortunately the Torres gave up a hit against his first batter in the 7th. 2 hits, 2 RBI for Brandon Allen. 2 more hits for De Los Santos. Box Score

No kidding a ball will never fall in the outfield. I like the way the drays are building their offense up with a ton of speed. But like dan said they need to get some pitching, that offense is going to be really fun to watch in the near future.

wow...reyes is hitting .319?!?!? isn't he like a defensive gem that can't hit?

Reyes has no pop, but is a nice player..... more likely a utility type guy. He is now wearing glasses and that has helped his hitting immensely.

hows joe hamilton doing?

If you mean Josh Hamilton, he is basically toast. He has had all kinds of problems, including drug problems. He is not playing right now, taking a personal leave of absence for the year.

I really don't think that Hamilton is done. This guy is still fairly young (24, i think, which is younger than Borch), and has all the tools to be an absolute stud. Plus, it sounds like he's gotten his life back on track now and has gotten over his cocaine addiction. He'd probably be an all-star for the D-rays had he not had all those problems, but he's a really good kid who just made a few mistakes (he didn't have baseball to focus on b/c he was injured, which gave him a lot of time to get involved in cocaine). As long as his life is really back on track, he'll probably need about 1 year in AAA, and could be in the big leagues after that, and will still only be about 26 years old.

A couple of comments/questions:

-How is Gio Gonzalez doing?

-I think Brian Anderson is going to be an absolute stud.  He seems to just hit wherever he goes.  JMHO

-Borchard is walking more.  Good.  :)

Gonzalez has dominated Bristol so far. His current line is:

6 IP 4 H 0 ER 1 BB 12 SO

There have been a couple of opposing coaches who have raved about his stuff in some articles. You shouldn't get to excited about a guy dominating rookie ball, because it happens so often, but this kid has a chance to be an absolute stud. A lefty with a fastball consistantly in the 90-92 range, a devasting curve, a good change-up, and very good control. That is the recipe for sucess.

I agree with your Anderson opinion. Like I have said many times, I am a U of A student and got to see him play in person about a dozen times, and it was clear that he had a ton of potential. The one thing I worried about was his strikeouts and overall plate disipline, but they haven't been a problem so far, and with that question answered positively, the sky is the limit. If I had to compare him to a major leaguer, than I would say Torii Hunter is the most accurate. Anderson isn't quite as good defensive, than again who is, but he is a very good defensive CF. He has a similar approach at the plate as Hunter. He has similar power potential(20+ HR's and 30+ 2B). He has similar plate disipline(40-50 BB 90-100 SO), maybe a little better. Anderson might hit for a slightly higher average(.270-.280 range). Both have above average speed, but aren't serious BS threats, although Anderson should be a double digit SB guy and could be a 20+ guy. Overall Anderson is a pretty complete player and the athlete that a one-dimensional offense like the Sox needs.

Some of my own personal notes:

LaMura has been pretty dominating since moving up to AA(17 IP 10 H 3 ER 3 BB 15 SO). He has always had a good arm, but never really put it all together. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

I have no clue who De Los Santos is or what kind of prospect he is, but it is hard to ignore the fact that he is hitting .439 in 41 AB's at Bristol. It might be a mirage, but it is still worth noting.

Another prospect to watch is Allen, the high school outfielder taken in this past draft. This guy has ton of potential, but is very raw. He could be an all or nothing prospect. If he realizes his potential, than he could be a star. If he doesn't, than you will probably never hear his name in the majors. There is little in between space.

As someone else mentioned, Schnurstein is really starting to heat up. He might be feeling the pressure with Fields being drafted in the 1st round. He was considered the Sox only legit 3B prospect with a clear path to the majors, but things have changed with the addition of Fields. It is nice to see him hitting again.

Does anyone have any info on this F Hernandez at Kannapolis? He has put up some impressive numbers so far.

Andy Gonzalez could be putting himself back on the prospect map. He has great plate disipline and good power potential, and has really hit well of late.

Finally, can we please promote Rogowski?

I think that is a very optimistic assessment....... He hasn't ever even succeeded in AA. In fact, he has only had one half season above low A that has been worth anything.

After taking a year off, and struggling before, I think his chances of any success in the Majors are not good.

Yeah, that is a pretty optimistic view on the Hamilton situation, but I just really like this guy after reading an article about him in ESPN The Magazine, and really want him to do well. Anyway, he probably is done, but I just wanted to present the positive points of the Hamilton situation b/c he's really not that bad of a guy, he just made a few mistakes (His were just a little bigger and more in the spotlight than other people b/c of who he is). Anything is possible, so he could still turn into a solid major leaguer, probably not All-Star like he probably could have been had he not gotten into the drugs, etc.
