There are two major styles, what we call down here "saltillo" tile which is made of red concrete like material and the color would stay, except if dirt and mold got on them. The second style are plain concrete formed tiles which are painted a variety of colors. Usually with a waterproof paint The paint does fade and run with time and high pressure washing.
