If we look solely at the gamelog which is the simplest measure to use:

http://baseball.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?g...ameId=230907104

Batting

HR: F Thomas (39, 7th inning off D Baez 2 on, 2 Out); P Konerko (18, 8th inning off D Lee 1 on, 1 Out)

RBI: M Ordonez (85), C Lee (98), F Thomas 3 (93), P Konerko 2 (65)

S: R Alomar, S Alomar Jr

SF: C Lee

2-out RBI: F Thomas

Runners left in scoring position, 2 out- R Alomar 1, P Konerko 1, M Ordonez 1

Team LOB: 7

Baserunning

CS: M Ordonez (5, 2nd base by C Lee/V Martinez)

Can we determine a PTC from this?

+ Pts:

HR: (2*HR)

Thomas = 2

Koney = 2

RBI:(1*RBI)

Thomas = 3

Koney = 2

Maggs = 1

Lee = 1

2-out RBI: (1*RBI)

Thomas = 1

- Pts: all -1 PT

RON,2 outs:

Koney = -1

CS:

Maggs = -1

Thomas should win the hitters PTC 6-3 over Koney.

If the SOX get shut out, then you can look at H, & AB.

But otherwise, it should be the players driving in runs that get the most weight.

Similarly on the PITCHING side:

IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA

D Wright 5 5 2 2 1 4 2 75-47 5.42

K Wunsch 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 8-6 1.74

S Sullivan 1/3 1 1 1 1 0 0 15-7 6.35

S Schow 2/3 0 0 0 1 1 0 13-4 4.85

D Marte 1 1 0 0 0 3 0 17-10 1.66

T Gordon 1 0 0 0 0 2 0 8-7 3.33

I like ST/(R+1) as the winning PTC measure: (ST = strikes, R = runs scored)

Wright = 16

Wunsch = 6

Sullivan = 3.5

Schow = 4

Marte = 10

Gordon = 7

After all hits are only counted as strikes.

Now if you want only 1 PTC then for a Pitcher to win he must have a score > 3*(highest hitter)

Thomas wins the PTC 18-16 over Wright.

Proof: Wright needed just 10 more ST's to win.

That would have left him with 6ip, 2r, 57ST's

I think that was worthy of the win.
