Boston @ Chicago - ALDS Game 1

It seems, going by espn, the Angels and Astros are the en vogue picks right now. I understand those picks by and large. That said, I am skipping my classes and work shift tomorrow and I am getting playoff fever. I had classs suring the 00 ALDS and with all the daygames it was over before I knew it. I think we are going to play really competitive. Tomorrow sets the tone and lets us know if Contreras is a mirage or the real deal.

No matter what happens tomorrow, Contreras proved to me he was legit this season. He'd be an ace on at least half the teams in baseball.

Fathom, just in terms of the discussion we've had previously...tomorrow is actually very important for Contreras, in that it's his best chance to prove to the rest of the league that he's come around and become a big game pitcher.

You've suggested in the past that you'd be willing to consider trading him if the right offer came along, since his value may never be higher than it will be after this season. Well, for that to be the case, he actually has to perform in the playoffs. If he does so, his value could go through the roof. If he doesn't, suddenly he becomes a guy that you can't count on in big games.

I found this funny

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...esox/index.html

Donovan had the White Sox better than the Red Sox in all but one category, and still couldnt bring himself to pick the White Sox. And he couldnt even tell you why, so he just used the old "mystique" excuse, for lack of a better word.

hey kyle,

they did the same thing on cbs.sportsline.... its so funny.. gave the edge to sox in everything but oufield but picked the "peoples" choice

I just got a funny feeling that that sox found their "mojo" in Cleveland and will carry it over tomorrow. They looked like they expected to win each game and that's how they looked for more than half a season.

Here's hoping I'm right for a change. :headbang

Dayn Perry makes another uninformed call about pitchers(If you would recall his horrible poll on "flamethrowers"). He feels that Brandon McCarthy has earned a spot in the rotation. As a matter of fact, Ozzie would be 'ignorant' if he didnt give McCarthy a start.

Hey Dayn, we have known McCarthy wasnt going to be on the roster since yesterday. Apparently Ozzie isnt the only ignorant one here.

an ESPN poll reported that

64% said that the Red Sox would win this series

36% said we will win the series.

So we are definitely the underdog. But Ozzie said something that made me smile. He said: "In 2003 while I was the 3rd base coach in Flordia- we weren't expected to win 1 game! But we wen't to New York and won the World Series!"
