RME JICO
Offense seems to be waking up. 8 starters with at least one hit. Dye (3-5, 1HR) and Mack (3-3, 2 2B) increasing their trade value. Thome one closer to 500. Solid game for Garland and Thornton. Day needs to go. Jenks with the 1 pitch save.
The Ginger Kid
they came out showing some real life. it's a long second half, but this is a great way to get it started! (that, and saying so long to day)

(that, and saying so long to day) If the offense and starters show up like that every game, and the bullpen is at least partially effective, it should be an exciting 2nd half. Linnwood
Good start to the second-half... Sadly it doesn't seem to matter if the offense wakes up if the bullpen remains so bad.
whitesoxfan101
Worst bullpen I have ever seen. Nice win and all, but we're shooting for a ceiling of 4th place at the rate our pen works.

southsideirish71
Nice day for the offense. Great day for the tradeables. The bullpen outside of Thornton and Jenks looked like crap. Nice win.
SoxFan1
My god, we get off to a great start, the bullpen comes in and is absolutely s***ty. My god, this is why I think we'll never go on a big run. Not with this bullpen at least. Even Boone Logan gave up a bomb.

greg775
Thome, Konerko, AJ and Dye hit ... we win. It's pretty simple. That said, can KW find a middle reliever somewhere, anywhere? We can't keep trotting these guys out there. Isn't there somebody we can acquire for a prospect or two? I mean it seems stupid to have the above mentioned veterans try to heat up if we're not going to make some minor adjustments to the pen. We can't win with these stiffs out there. Oz had to just puke watching Day. Edited July 13, 2007 by greg775

On a side note I remember an Ozzie quote where he said he liked Day's stuff before he went on the DL... that makes me scared.
fathom
Didn't see the game, but it's no shock that Day sucks. His slider is living proof for why you can't judge stupid tool rankings.
greg775
This seems like a good thread to ask the question. Seriously, to all of you who I trust with knowledge of baseball: Can you identify or could KW identify somebody the Sox could acquire from a non contender to pitch the sixth and seventh innings or seventh and eighth preferably? Is anybody out there we could get for a prospect or two? Anybody???
Guest
it's great to see the offense coming around. save for bedard, guthrie was the best starting pitcher we are going to face this series. i can't wait to see our offense in action the days Vazquez (game 3) and Danks (game 4) pitch. He's a LOOGY, he shouldn't be facing righties. They hit him incredibly hard. I fear Boone will never be used properly. Guest
^^^ i'm so glad (CREAM) that we have our 3.03 ERA ace matching up with bedard tomorrow. it should be a very quick game as all of buehrle's starts are.
