So how do we approach this guy we never faced. Do you watch video, do you check scouting reports. ....nope.

Here you go.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 08:53 PM)
Trivia question: What is the most hits a team has had in a 9 inning game without scoring a run?

A: The record for most hits by one team while being shut out is 14, set once in the NL and once in the AL. On September 14, 1913, Chicago Cubs ace Larry Cheney threw a complete-game shutout against New York, despite being beaten up by the Giant hitters. The Giants had a hit in every inning, but had only one runner reach third base. Cheney was helped by three New Yorkers getting caught stealing and one being thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double.

The Giants’ dubious record was matched on July 10, 1928 by the Cleveland Indians, who somehow could not score against journeyman Washington pitcher Milt Gaston. Gaston, who two years earlier had allowed 12 hits while shutting out the Red Sox, survived six leadoff hits and five Indians reaching third base. per the baseballlibrary.com

Well we are currently 12th out of 14 teams in the AL for runs scored. 2 out of the last year years we have been near the bottom in runs scored. We need to fix this s***. With our pitching next year we can compete. With our rotten offense, and rotten defense we might be lucky to be 500.

Well said, except our bullpen has stunk the last 2 years. I'm not so confident it will be that of a contender.

14 is correct.

The Sox starting are in the top 3 in every AL category except wins. What a waste.

Aardsma warming - he OWES us.

He already did. He blew a save against us before oddly enough.

That's as pathetic a game as we've had. Nine hits, one run.

Injured starter gives up a few runs; game Ova cause of bad offense.

It's pretty obvious Walk will be gone after this year, don't you think. And I don't really blame him.

But somebody has to take the fall for the 'O.'

Now one of the optimistic fans will start a thread giving us the math on how we will still win the division.

I wouldn't put money on it.
