According to that data, the difference between 1/2 no outs and 2/3 one out is pretty negligible, but barely in favor of swinging at away. That is probably the classic case of it could go both ways.

Juan Pierre was up next, not a high average guy, and if he flips it to LF, fielders play in so can't send runner, if he pulls it Choo has one of the best arms in the league. It worked out with a hit, but I don't like giving up an out when the Sox are crushing the pitcher.

 

Looks like Alex is wearing the bad luck early on!
