He is a f***ing LOOGY that is it.

Guillen is trying to make him something he is not. This is Randy Williams all over again.

Randy Williams's problem is that he couldn't get lefties out either.

Of course...right now...Ohman can't throw a strike to a lefty.

What about Danks makes you say that? Is it just the amount of money committed?

And the length.

That is market rate for a 27-28 year old LH starting pitcher right now.

And on the FA market, teams are simply overpaying for starting pitching because there isn't enough of it.

Danks is a good pitcher, but please stop using the word 'Ace' next to his name, he's nowhere close to earning that title yet

We are discussing a hypothetical situation where he takes that next step this season. I know that he is not there yet.

Because he is a six inning pitcher. Today is the prime example of why he is not an ace. He is a really good pitcher but not worth a contract of that magnitude.

If we're ripping D1, seriously look at the actual numbers.

6 IP, 6 h, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 K's.

If Roy Halladay put up that line, you wouldn't be sitting there saying "He's not an ace!".

Not calling him an ace is not ripping him.

Starters need to give you more than 6 innings. Masterson cooled down a hot hitting team today. Nobody his confusing him with Roy Halladay.

Wow have these bats gone south.

Shrug, it's not my fault you can't correctly evaluate talent

Do you think that he will get that contract if he pitches just like he has the last two seasons?

That triple play changed the whole momentum of this game.

Yes a team that has scored 23 runs in two days needs to be bunting in the 4th inning to get the bat into Omar Vizquel and Juan Pierre's hands to drive in the runs over Alexi.

That is assine thinking every time.

23 runs in two days....then Danks gets the shaft....again. He's the Sox ace!!

Absolutely. 215 innings in the AL with an ERA regularly under 4, for a guy who will be hitting the FA market before he turns 28, and who happens to throw from the LH side, with no real injury history?

If he takes another step somehow, then you go from talking 7/$120 to talking 7/$150.

Ah well, win a series on the road to open the season. That ain't bad.

Agreed, I liked how almost all of our hitters looked this series. Dunn's presence in the lineup is great. Gotta get the bullpen stuff under control though.

Every year sox management has to show the world how smart they are by claiming these frogs with the intent of transforming them into princes.

Frankly, this game was over when Alexei bunted into that triple play.

Alexei never has been nor will he ever be a good bunter - his heart is clearly not in it yet Guillen continues to force the issue.

And watch for the return of the Sunday or the opportunity to sweep but I'll take 2 out of 3 mentality lineup.

He'll use today as justification.

Sure and Tuesday it will be a week since he last pitched.

It's a 1 run game though. A "Closer" could still easily wind up useful. If you're going to designate a "Closer", you may as well be stubborn about it.
