I want to reiterate that I am ridiculously excited to see Prometheus.

That is all.

I'm up there with you. Sadly, I had a dream last night that I picked up Alien and Aliens just so the wife could get familiar with the Bugs. I guess I will have to do so.

It is a prequel. Prometheus trailers have already shown the Space jockey suit/pilot cockpit that is in the abandoned alien ship

in the original movie.

This movie is going to explain why that ship got there.

This. And I swear I've seen the eggs and their tips hatching, which could mean face huggers.

If you just take Independence Day for what it is there is absolutely nothing wrong with it as a movie.

Sure, but you are expecting an imitation. Imitations always fall short of the original

I don't think there is anything wrong with that movie and I didn't mean to imply that. However, Battleship looks and sounds like s***.

There's a face hugger in one of the trailers. I don't think I've ever been more excited for a movie.

I don't think it is a facehugger, I think it is that cobra thing.

One thing about the xenomorph aliens is that they are supposed to be hyperadaptive and evolve very quickly as a result of the DNA of their host, which is why it was a large human sized alien in 1 and 2, and a dog sized alien in 3.

From everything I am reading that Ridley Scott has said in interviews, I think we are going to see the Aliens a little bit different than what we know them to look like.

How it should have gone:

1. Scientist sees something on radar

2. Summon the joint chiefs!

3. It landed in the ocean!

4. Send everything we got!

5. MASSIVE KILLTACULAR

6. Ships sinking everywhere, aliens gettin' rocked by the latest and greatest

7. Liam Neeson suicides a nuclear aircraft carrier into the mothership, saving the world

8. USA USA USA USA USA USA USA WE DID IT

We have an all time classic.

Lol, this is awesome. Could probably get someone to make it based on the crap they're pumping out.

So... The Avengers was really just OK. Had some funny moments, some decent action, the 2nd easter egg was funny. But the writing was just incredibly clunky. I was expecting much better wit and dialogue from a Joss Wheadon production. It wasn't bad or anything, just... OK.

I kind of agree with him though. I would say better than OK, but it wasn't one of the best movies I've seen or even close.

That was kinda what I was trying to say. It was fun, it was a decent movie, but nothing momentous, and I thought the dialogue and writing in general was disappointing. I think, with all the hype, plus Joss Wheadon at the helm, my expectations were too high.

I wrote something similar in the Avengers thread. For a 2.5 hour long movie, it either needed more action in the middle or a more interesting plot.

My usual standard for how interested I am in a movie is how long it takes me to unconsciously decide to look at my watch to see how much longer the film has. Most movies I last about an hour. Something I'm suffering through will last 30 minutes. For the Avengers, didn't check it once.

Yeah, to each their own. It's not going to win oscars, it is an action movie, it's not going to get Robert Downey Jr. a supporting actor nomination, but out of the action movie genre, it's up there at the top.

I think I checked three or four times. Once the action got going it was entertaining, but it was a bit slow in the middle.

Really? Mind if I ask you to elaborate? I really enjoyed the last 2 Bond films. More character/plot development than the latter 3 Brosnan films, fewer ridiculous space laser chases.

Casino Royale was excellent, largely because of Eva Green, or, should I say, the repartee between the two of them throughout the entire movie.

The follow-up with the Russian model/actress wasn't so good...trust me, though, just watch some of the old Roger Moore ones, or the George Lazenby outing (On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the one where he is briefly married). Those really have not stood up well over time like the Connery classic ones.

Heck, the Dalton ones seem more watchable today than most of the Moore ones, and then Brosnan was better than Timothy Dalton.
