To answer your question...you can make the playoffs with Jay Cutler. You won't with Josh McCown. I can think of literally zero scenario where you make the playoffs with McCown over a full season. A lot went wrong. Houston ended up being a bust (though I think the talent is there), Allen was old and sick, Tillman got hurt, Briggs showed up fat, and on the offensive side of the ball the OL was banged up which I believe was what limited the offense. If Houston and Allen were the guys most hoped for, Tillman stayed healthy, Briggs gave a f***, and the OL didn't blow I think we're a playoff team. Oh, and if Tucker was canned like he shoulda been. As for cutting Jay, I'm a big Jay backer, but after hearing about this new clause in his contract I'd be cool with it.....I'd probably go with Locker, Mallett, or even maybe even Ponder before I went with McCown. That's a hell of a long ways away and a lot would still have to go right. I'd hate to see the Jets benefit that much, but the Bucs WILL pick a QB, and the Titans could certainly use a QB too. This is all TMZ-ish rumor, but i have heard a lot about it in the last two days. Supposedly it is the reason the Cowboys havent done anything with him contract-wise. He won't specifically say anything but he's been saying it for the past year that their is massive amounts of smoke around him and if you just look at police visits to his house it is absurd in and of itself.
