Frankly, if the Dodgers are aggressively pursuing Alexei, there could be a zillion different things going on and it might not matter what we heard from those guys anyways.

True...but just something like if they wanted to add Danks in would clear things up. I wouldnt take on Ethier or Crawford without shipping a terrible contract back with them. It certainly wouldnt happen for just Alexei.

I think this deal would benefit from having a third team if we're getting an MLB OF. It's also what Hahn likes to do, so maybe we'll see another team involved soon to possibly take on some money and receive an MLB player (as opposed to a minor leaguer).

Pardon my lack of knowledge regarding Perderson, but is he a guy who would be in the Sox's outfield in 2015 if he were acquired? Or would he need some time in AAA?

Like another poster said, barring a collapse in ST, Pederson would be the Sox starting LFer in 2015

In an admittedly very good hitter's league, Pederson still put up .303/.435/.582 at AAA this year with 33 homers. He won't turn 23 until 3 weeks after Opening Day next year.

Yes, he'd be in the Sox outfield at some point in 2015. Likely after the Sox could guarantee 6+ years of service. I'd say around May 15th or so.

If Ethier or Crawford were to be included, I'd eat a hat if Danks didn't get sent to LA.

I'll take one of their best pitching prospects, Pederson, and one of the Cuban infielders to fill in at short for Alexei. We have leverage. Hope this gets talks with the Mets started up.

We have leverage, but I don't think we have that much leverage.

I get that Danks sucks, but considering where we are in rebuild, I really don't want to waste trading a player I really like and we can't replace easily for a bunch of old, bad, expensive outfielders just to....I'm not sure what this accomplishes. Oh yay, we have Ethier breaking down in LF for 2-3 seasons. Yay.

Watching Danks groove 86 MPH fastballs over the plate is better? Eithier would be a lot more valuable to this team than Danks next year....as long as the $ equals out or is close.

I'm hoping to improve the team, not just swap deck chairs around.

No idea why people pretend like Either is a bad player. Just because he has a bad contract it doesn't make him a bad player. He's never had a bad season when given even semi-regular AB's. He has a career .821 OPS. If he was given 450-500 AB's for us he could easily hit .270/.330/.420 with 15-20 HR's and above average D in left. He's way overpaid but still WAY more valuable to our team than what Danks would be.

I do wonder what kind of bounceback Either would have with every day playing time.

The problem with everyday playing time is that he has never hit LHP well. Give him the start everyday against righties, that's over 2/3 of the time anyway, I bet he does well.
