I'll let you guys decide who to believe.

John Calipari has made it known to Pelicans officials that he's interested in the team's head-coaching job. (via http://NOLA.com )

Even though Anthony and Tyreke are in NOLA, I have no interest in the Pelicans or any other job. I have a great job and I'm happy at UK.

I'll never believe Cal about anything, I guarantee he'd leave if the $$$ was there

(Or if UK had unknown looming sanctions)

He also just struck out incredibly the last few months in recruiting and Skal getting in is still a long shot, he could be thinking that it's best to go out on top (or close to it) and secure a big money NBA contract.

Some guys would rather be the big fish in a little pond.

Good get for Purdue, and while I usually like to see a top kid go to a non-Blue Chip school I don't really get this from a basketball perspective, he will be the 3rd option at C.

You know he's going back to the NBA at some point. Just a matter of time.

Any chance Fran Fraschilla gets that job?

No way. Nor Steve Lavin.

Tommie Amaker deserves another shot, but not sure Iowa provides enough in terms of recruiting...unless you follow the Hoiberg plan of attack and scour the country.

Amaker and Rasheed Suleimon to ISU? Don't think he'd want to pick up the phone when Coach K called on that one.

Sounds like the five candidates for the ISU job are:

TJ Otzelberger, ISU assistant

Steve Prohm, Murray State head coach

Brad Underwood, Stephen F. Austin head coach

Jeff Hornacek, Phoenix Suns head coach

Bryce Drew, Valparaiso head coach

I hope Bryce sticks around here. I love what he is doing at Valpo.

Did Hornacek say no, or was that BS? I was watching something on why Hoiberg would prefer the NBA. You don't have to recruit all the time, or worry about grades. You don't have to kiss boosters' asses. If a player gets in trouble, you aren't the guy getting the phone call at 3 AM. But, the trade off is some stability. Maybe a guy like Hornacek, who I believe came to Iowa State as a walk on, wouldn't mind going back realizing he could stay there a very long time, where in the NBA, who knows where he will be in a year.

I think ISU would be smart to go with Underwood or TJ if those are the five. That's assuming Jeff H doesn't want the job.

Great hire by Iowa St. Him, or Mike White, was the coach I wanted if GT canned Gregory. He plays a very exciting style.

Can the Murray State coach recruit? Fred always had at least one star recruiter on his staff and ISU frankly needs the type of transfers Fred landed. Some coaches don't know how to land transfers or don't want them cause they end up on the police blotter. Will Prohm recruit well or be another McDermott?

He's only made one staff hire. Supposedly going after Isaac Chew from VT.

Did you hear anything about Greg Marshall interviewin for the Iowa State job? Sounds crazy if it's true.

Heard there were discussions but never got serious.
