As picks come in, they will go here, as well as of course on the Draft Tracker on Future Sox.

Players still alive in postseason baseball will be highlighted in green

Players that have signed or have said they will sign will be in bold.

Players who are confirmed as NOT signing will be in red.

1 (8th): Carson Fulmer, RHP, 6-0, 195, Vanderbilt - Playing in College World Series

4 (112): Zack Erwin, LHP, 6-5, 195, Clemson $508,000 (SLOT)

5 (142): Jordan Stephens, RHP, 6-1, 185, Rice>>>$300,000 ($80,400 under slot)

6 (172): Corey Zangari, 1B, 6-4, 240, R-R, Carl Albert HS (OK)>>>over $500,000

7 (202): Blake Hickman, RHP, 6-4, 220, Iowa $200,000 ($13,400 under slot)

8 (232): Casey Schroeder, C, 6-1, 195, S-R, Coastal Carolina (SC) $150k, ($24.8k below slot)

9 (262): Ryan Hinchley, LHP, 6-3, 205, University of Illinois at Chicago (IL)

10 (292): Jackson Glines, CF, 6-0, 195, L-L, Michigan>>>$10,000 ($142,300 under slot)

11 (322): Danny Dopico, RHP, 6-2, 190, Florida International

12 (352): Seby Zavala, C, 6-0, 185, R-R, San Diego State

13 (382): Ryan Riga, LHP, 6-0, 210, Ohio State

14 (412): Tyler Sullivan, CF, 5-9, 175, L-L, Pacific

15 (442): Chris Comito, RHP, 6-5, 220, Norwalk HS (Iowa)>>>$170,000 ($70K OVER slot)

So far we have $260,900 built up in the under slot signings, with $70,000 for sure being ate up by Cotillos $70,000 over slot. Zangari's number still hasn't officially came in, but at $500,000, he would be $215,200 over slot. Sounds like it could be more. That will be mostly offset by the $190,600 we have left over.

We still have the Hinchley bonus to factor in. Slot there is $163,200, which means if the Sox gave him $10,000 as a senior sign, we'd gain another $150k-ish to look at the HS players, part of which will be eaten up by Zagari.

Again the big factor here is Fulmer. Say we have $100,000 left over out of the rest of our signings, if we can pick up $500,000 from Fulmer, we'd have a million dollars or so to give to one of the HS signings. If we tried to split it, we'd be over $500k for each.

So with all of the top 10 slot figures in except for Fulmer and Hinchley, the Sox sit at $33,300 over their draft allotment. Keep in mind that Hinchley will result in a very large savings. If he gets $10,000, the Sox pick up$152,200 in savings, meaning they would have about $120k underslot built up to use elsewhere before we know anything about Fulmer's deal.

Would love to be able to make a run at Hickman but that probably only happens if Fulmer is underslot.

Little snippet from Kiley McDaniel chat:

Comment From Nick

You’ve been clear that Carson Fulmer is your favorite pitcher from this draft. How would he compare to the pitchers of the 2014 draft? A tier below Rodon but above Nola?

11:49

Kiley McDaniel: I think he’s very similar to Nola in value, they’ll be near each other on the big list if Nola is still eligible

He's a senior. No leverage. Take the 10k or don't play.

Okay - didn't realize things were that hard-nosed.

Now was Glines really a 10th round talent; or did they just pick him so that they could get 150K in cap room, essentially punting their 10th pick?

Glines is actually decent. They punted their 9th rd pick though. Hinchley is awful. They signed an overslot guy in the 14th though in Comito.

That's what I thought, too.... creating the cap room and then treating it like an asset. Did they create it for Fulmer, or someone else?

10th round talent doesn't really mean anything in the modern mlb draft. It should be used Like the Sox did, well under slot signing to save your draft pool $$$. Glines was a A+ pick in that regard. He is both a guy to watch and saved a boatload of cash. But yes there were a lot of names more talented then him, just that you wouldn't save the cash on them. Our 9th round pick as mentioned was a total punt.

11th-40th round pick you can pay 100k max. If you go under, that amount does not go to your added draft pool. If you go over 100k however, you get charged against your draft pool. So we signed 170k a hs pitcher on day 3. That means that extra 70k has to come from somewhere aka one of those under slot signings from the first couple days. Drafting Glines helped us sign him.

Hard to say. I don't think Fulmer will go over slot. Probably at slot. Most of the money is going to our 6th round pick Zangari who went well above slot.

This is the new draft style around MLB. Rounds 8-10 are about picking up cap room to draft over cap later in the draft. Look around all of baseball.

7th round pick Hickman needs TJ surgery, why draft a hurt player? Who scouts these guys? A wasted choice when you lost 2 picks already because of the FA signings....

3rd round talent that has extreme familiarity with the org. I'm sure they knew.

Yes sir, Fulmer is tonight's starter for Vandy. 7PM start I believe.

Nice! I'll be tuning in! It should be his last appearance in college before he joins the Sox.
