I don't know how weird you guys are but her ya go

you know, i like it. the sound i like its like mixtures of several types of regional music. something like the deep horn of down under and the scratching on a hollow tube.

the visual part reminds me of something from the earlier twilight movies.

but that is me and i am weird.

nice ..... i am going to see / hear more of then when i get to work.

I'm not a big Foo Fighters fan, but this is cool.

this is freaking insane. the amount of people there and at their own expense. wow.

the whole sounds must have be reverberating to new levels. what a concept.

many thanks.

Can anyone recommend a good record player?

I see a bunch of different Crosleys sold in a lot of places and their reviews seem to be pretty good and they are pretty reasonably priced. The best reviews I have seen on RP's seem to be the Audio Technica brand.

I thought there was a thread already on music.

well either way, i don't know why, but just wasting my day at work, writing on the sox and listening to some classic rock.

Rush best all morning and i do love me some great drums and guitar.

Hemisphere #1 9:01 in great rift and great backup with neil pert on the drums.

still amazes me, the drummer writing all the songs .... right there with phil collins.

?

Peart doesn't write the music, that's Lee and Lifeson, Peart writes the lyrics, not the songs.

I'm guessing you are looking for a turntable. My audiophile buddy has a really sweet setup and has a VMI, not sure which model. He also like Pro-ject & Rega.

I have a Crosley, it's not bad for being an "affordable" record player.

Thats probably what I will get. They are cheap and look like they are easily transportable.

Crosleys are kinda gimmicky. They are portable or look cool, but generally don't sound very good.

Audio Technica is good way to start off, if you want a home record player.

This is the one I have. It's a really good price for what you get.

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT-LP...hnica+turntable

It has a built in pre-amp so you don't have to go messing around buying one of those and worrying about grounding it and everything and is basically modeled after Technics turntables 4-5 times its cost.

I have a rather modest collection of around 300 records but some of which have a lot of value. I put my Neil Young collection alone in the $3000-$3500 range. Not one of my records (other than dollar bin fillers) will ever see a needle from a Crosley player.

The biggest problem with most of the Crosleys that people buy is that they do not have counterweight adjustments on the tone arm or an anti-skate adjustment. These two features are crucial when switch between 140, 180 or even 220 gram records. The cheap plastic tone arm on most Crosleys will just slide all over the place on a 220 gram record.

Thank you guys. I am all about the sound that comes out. Thats why you want to listen to vinyl anyways. I might have to invest just a little bit more and go for the Audiotechnica if thats going to give a better sound then.

The only thing the Crosleys have going for them is that most of them have built in speakers. If you go with any sort of "real" turntable like the Audio-Technica I listed, you will also need a receiver and speakers. Between the turntable, receiver, speakers and speaker wire I have roughly $600 or so into my system and that's just for a pretty moderate one. You can easily get into the couple thousand dollar range if you really want to get the most out of your records.

AN alumni from my fraternity chapter that I am pretty close with invented started this company and holds the patent on this. It's a modern gramophone with digital and bluetooth capabilities, while I am big on vinyl and record players the sound quality on this is unreal.

That is really interesting. I would like to hear how it sounds. I am assuming there arent to many of these being sold in stores yet to hear it for myself.

Its pretty recent, there was a Kickstarter maybe years ago and they raked in a lot of cash. Right now they're only on digital retailers but they been features at a lot of events like the Grammy's where they were included in the gifts bags the attendees receive. The last time I spoke to Jeff he said that he was considering talking with retailers

Thanks for posting Balta. FF covered David Bowie very well. Looking forward to seeing the pics when you post them. Hope you had a great time although it's probably safe to say you did. :headbang

God the Apple photos app is so much worse than iPhoto. That was f***ing annoying. Anywho.

Couple of them got retweeted last night by the local radio station host while I was waiting in traffic to get out. They were nice enough to play a full hour of Foo Fighters while we were leaving.

Glad someone caught this. Here's Dave Grohl playing the guitar using his cast.

I was just playing the video and my wife looked at me funny when she heard the guitar. I just told it was Dave Grohl playing with the cast on his leg and she busted out laughing. She's a big fan too.

Again man, thanks for sharing.

yes, it's sort of a standard "pavilion" structure with a big lawn in the back, similar to the Hollywood Casino Music Theater south of Chicago (My word that's what it's called now?). Probably fits 25000 or so.
