Yes, because Chris Sale should be put ahead of the team, and the Sox should throw Jose Quintana out there with short rest, risking injury among other things, so Sale gets a shot at the record. T

So you want to see his streak end because of the weather? Ok, then.

Sale is pretty much the only thing for us Sox fans to root for this year so I want this streak to be as long as possible.

I know it's not the norm, but you can't ruin Sale's streak because of the weather. You just can't.

Better hope for a rain out rather than some rain delays during the game then. A rain out doesn't ruin anything well except for 40,000 or so fans expecting to see the beloved ex Sox pitcher and the current beloved Sox pitcher pitching against each other plus the added bonus of Sale breaking some very cool streak of consecutive games started with at least 10 K's :P . Sale would just pitch tomorrow streak intact ,whereas rain delays could potentially ruin it.

If it's ruined it's ruined, maybe we get a win out of it still. Just chalk it up to Murphy's law and the Gods of Baseball kicking their dog again.

No, but if it is, so be it.

I think the more interesting question is if Sale was at 125 pitches with 9 strikeouts, would you be mad if he were lifted, or would it be worth the possible damage in order to get this "record" most likely no one but Red Sox fans even knew Pedro owned up until now?

I'd say depends on the situation.

1 out and 2 runners on in close game, get him out of there.

2 outs, top 8th inning, no one on, still looks good? Fine, let him have one more hitter. But have the **** bullpen ready to go.

That's really hard to know unless I knew more about the situation/circumstances.

If he was "cruising" or throwing relatively low stress innings, I'd leave him in. If he was laboring and falling apart, then I'd pull him.

Actually, Q would be on 4 days rest which would be pretty normal rest. Not short

You reminded me to check and he's been worse than last year. Impressive how he's completely fallen apart the last couple years and makes me glad we didn't sign that one.

Aww heck, everybody deserves to be Adam Dunn'd on occasion. Too bad KW thinks that's a GOOD thing.

Chris sale stats

He leads the majors with 141 Ks, the second-highest total in White Sox history before the All-Star Break behind Wilbur Wood’s 142 in 1973.

https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/618203705515638784

His average of 12.28 strikeouts per 9.0 IP would be the highest total for a starting pitcher in @MLB since Johnson averaged 13.41 in 2001.

https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/618203572510031872

He's on pace to post a franchise-record 289 Ks, which would be the highest total in @MLB since Randy Johnson fanned 290 in 2004.

https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/618203364283822081

His 75 strikeouts in June broke Juan Pizarro’s franchise monthly record of 61 set in August 1961.

His 766 strikeouts through his first 100 career starts are the highest total in major-league history, according to Elias.

He has struck out 10 or more batters 27 times in 100 career starts, 12 or more 16 times & has recorded six games w/ 10-plus Ks and no walks.
