@philgrogers: White Sox 3B Trey Michalczewski, 20, finishes 2nd in Carolina League w/75 RBIs. A switch-hitter, he's driven in 171 runs in 318 pro games.

Haven't read much on him. Anyone seen him or know about him?

lol Rogers evaluating prospects by RBI's. That has zero to do with why Trey is good.

Hes only 20 and a switch hitter on top of that. Power is usually the last tool to develop its even more pronounced in switch hitters. I think the sox will be aggressive and push him to AA next year. Hes also more of a natural hitter from the right side.

That's the way it was for Arenado.

And, I think RBI is an important stat. It has something to do with coming through with men on base. It's a skill. Arenado had it in low minors, also.

RBI is borderline meaningless in evaluating prospects. It is in great part dependent on what others do, not the player in question, so it just isn't useful. Not to mention, even if you want to look at w/RISP numbers, the sample sizes are pretty small to be meaningful. He hit .289 w/ RISP this year, vs .259 AVG. Last year, he hit under .250 in that situation, which was below his average. The variance should tell you something.
