Jesse Sanchez as source (someone needs to remind him both Martinezes can't DH in Motown).

White Sox and Baltimore emerging as two favorites for Cespedes...

Angels, Giants next, with Texas and the Tigers in the mix (Maybin, Gose, Aviles and Collins might not be enough, along with JD Martinez).

O's aren't likely to spend $100 million on Cespedes...fwiw

Speculation that Alvarez is a more important add, along with retaining Chris Davis

I believe raBBit tweeted earlier today that 2 ain't happening.

Astounding that anyone actually needs confirmation from Bugs Bunny that the Sox wouldn't be signing 2 high priced free agent OFers. Inside sources don't take the place of common sense. I'm still coming to grips that the Sox would even sign one of them and I still won't believe it til it's confirmed.

Just caught up after getting off work to all the "action" from last night. Man I hope these Twitter guys have this right. After watching this highlight tape, I was giddy about the potential Cespedes adds to this lineup and outfield.

I'll be mighty disappointed if we don't end up with Cespy.

Enjoy!

And more jaw dropping action for those of you who fancy Defense.

Just keep him out of CF on a regular basis, that's the key...and another reason he might not like SF, that's a huge patch of grass to cover and Pagan needs to be moved to a corner spot.

This idea of platooning Cabrera with Garcia and not LaRoche is nutty...especially playing him in the OF compared to limiting the damage at DH.

Today is Wednesday. That means the White Sox will announce a signing at some point today. Stay tuned!

Wednesday December 9th- Brett Lawrie Trade

Wednesday December 16th- Todd Frazier Trade

Wednesday December 23rd- Jeremy Sands Waiver Deal (Not as exciting, I know)

Wednesday December 30th- Gordon or Cespedes FA signing?

I mean why mess with the established pattern now?

Dumb question on Cespedes, but can someone explain how his defense has graded out since coming here? He obviously had a terrific defensive season in 2015, but it appears he's always been very good in LF. Is it fair to say his overall defensive value over the years has been impacted by how much CF he's played and how well (or bad) he's played it? If so, assuming a drop in his offensive numbers (at least compared to 2015), what kind of player should we expect from a WAR standpoint?

Hopefully this helps.

He's definitely less effective in CF. He's not the "rangiest" of defenders, and most of his defensive value comes from his plus arm. Assuming he will spell Eaton in CF for ~10 games a year and he doesn't take an Adam Dunn-esque drop in production if he comes here, I think the assumption is 3-4 WAR for the first 3 years of the contract.

This is probably what goes down at the White Sox FO on Wednesdays.

Wait, he is MORE effective in center? I thought he was kind of a mess in center?
