You know it was Sale that wanted to boycott the game the other day. Wasn't his turn to go. That is happening tomorrow, right?

yep, definitely him and Eaton. On the other hand, it was reported he was one of the guys that changed his mind in order to support Ventura

Yep

Unless the Sox are rebuilding, that's not going to happen. Sale and Eaton both know it, which is why they feel free to say whatever the hell they want.

I seriously hope that somebody like Abreu steps up and confronts them.

It doesn't have to be rebuilding if the return is right. It is possible for the Sox to contend without Sale and especially Eaton.

The most infuriating thing about this is that LaRoche clearly WANTS to retire and spend more time with his kids. Otherwise, he would've simply filed a grievance with the MLBPA, shipped Drake off to live with his mother, and continued playing. And guys like Sale and Eaton and burning down the clubhouse to support a guy who doesn't want to be their teammate anymore. It's ridiculous on so many levels.

so Nightengale is making it sound like it is Sox players asking the mlbpa to file a grievance, and not necessarily LaRoche.

The #Whitesox players say that LaRoche has made up his mind and will not reconsider. He's done with baseball

For the love of God, stop with the he quit on them. It is exactly what 99.99% of this board wanted him to do all winter. Now he's a quitter. Seriously?

WE wanted him to quit. I'm saying he quit on his teammates, and they're backing him and his decision. And yes, he is a quitter.

If it isn't in the contract, and there was no handshake agreement, absolutely.

Well Eaton said he was told by LaRoche that it was in the contract so there would be no need for a hand shake deal. If it isnt in the contract that means either Eaton or LaRoche is lying(likely LaRoche) so why should we believe him if he said there was a handshake deal after that?

Based off that tweet? How are you coming to that conclusion?

He chose his family over his job. It happens. It isn't Michael Jordan "retiring" so he can go drive his kids around. This guy actually walks the walk and talks the talk when it comes to his kids.

See what Hahn and Robin say. They have been awfully quiet. Doesn't Hahn negotiate contracts?

It's funny you are trying to nail me into a wall.

What if it is in his contract? Are you going to admit KW was out of bounds?

1) Kenny said there wasn't. So now someone is lying, but we can't take either for fact.

2) The clause could very well say "Drake LaRoche is welcome in the clubhouse", not "Drake LaRoche has unlimited access to White Sox facilities"

For what it's worth, saying there's a contractual agreement isn't necessarily the same thing as saying it's in writing.

Please. He threw a temper tantrum because he was asked to limit how often his son is there, not because he was told his son is banned. He quit. I think we all say good riddance. It's a good thing he chose his family over his job, because he sucks at his job. I'm sure he's better at being a father.

If its in his contract then absolutely the Sox are at fault.

But if it was in his contract we wouldnt be having this conversation because the Sox would have unilaterally breached.

what do any expect the sox to do, show the contract to players to prove a point??

any way, doesn't a copy goes to the players union???

when isn't laroche agen not getting into the fight if it was spelled out in the contract???

Great point. If it was in the contract, his agent definitely would of already came out and bash the Sox.

What does it matter what they say? Eaton, the player rep and vocal defender of LaRoche said LaRoche told him its written in the contract. If it is, get rid of KW and admit they made a mistake, if it isnt LaRoche is caught lying and his credibility is gone. KW has already stated its not in his contract. One of them is lying and we have a way to find out who when the details of the contract are eventually exposed. LaRoches camp may have made a grave mistake by saying it was written in his contract instead of sticking to the hand shake deal that could never be proven.

And yes, if it is in the contract not only is KW out of bounds he needs to be fired and held accountable for whatever laws he violated.

I doubt it was in his contract. It would have been dumb for the Sox to put it there, worse to breach it if it was.

Edit: if it was there, its likely in ambiguous, non-quantified terms like "Drake shall be allowed access." Something like that where a request to dial it down wouldn't amount to outright breach.
