White Sox Acquire James Shields

Recommended Posts

So it looks like Cooper has fixed Shields....at least for now.

4 good starts in a row; went 8 last night.

Assuming Hahn has seen reality re this team's chances....

is now the time to flip him?

Good question. Let's take a look at the facts on the ground as they exist today to see what the answer ought to be.

Seller's market. Check.

Sox are at .500, but in the 80% of the games they've played that did not feature Chris Sale on the bump, they've played to a .431 winning percentage. Check.

Offense, once again, just like last year, near last in the league. Check.

Six teams, including Boston and Toronto, ahead of the team for that second wild card spot. Check.

You add all of that up and you easily get to the answer you are suggesting, GreenSox, the obvious and logical answer. Meanwhile, prepare yourself for a Jay Bruce announcement or the like between now and August 1st.

Six teams. That's incredible to think some people think we are in the race. Sell. This is just like last year. I want us to sell now, not after other teams start dumping players and we get scraps for "name" players. I'd trade Frazier and Robertson ASAP and get this thing rolling.

Yes. In real estate, it's called The Greater Fool Theory. If someone will take him, as long as it is better deal than Tatis, do it.

Report just out that the Commissioner offered Boston the option to undo their trade with San Diego in August. Wonder why the same opportunity wasn't afforded to the White Sox regarding Shields.

Because Drew Pomerantz has an injury and Shields apparently doesnt. He is just bad.

Erik Johnson is having TJ surgery.

Well that would explain a lot of his last couple years if that were starting to go.

Not really. He was the IL pitcher of the year in 2015. Might explain why he was worse than ever this year.He just sucks. IMO he became a robot and that is fine when you are going well, when thing don't he didn't really have another plan.
