WHIP of 1.00, opponents hitting .187/.257/.242/.499 (so much for that always making it interesting bulls*** too). 11.1 k/9 ERA of 8.71 in non save situations but hey, that's not why we pay him the big bucks. You have to go all the way down to Fernando Rodney at #31 in total saves to find ANYONE in the top 30 with SEVEN blown saves. Robertson is all alone right there in that category. You can blame the Sox defense all you want, but he hasn't been one of the Top 5 or even Top 10 closers in all of baseball since we signed him. By salary we should be getting ELITE. The problem is that as abysmal as he has been in non-save situations, who does he have that he can trust outside of Jones/Duke and possibly Jennings right now (with a 4 run lead)? Last year I thought he didn't play up to expecations... This year he has been up and down a little bit.. but great in save situations. Last year was different... Closers have to pitch in non-save situations at time. Sometimes, they need work if they have not pitched in three days. Sometimes, you need them in a tie game in the 9th inning. He's paid to pitch well, period, and as caulfield brought up, if you did this for last year when he blew all those saves then it's probably a different story.
