flavum
https://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040-i-1...eball-1.1006839 Honestly, I don't even know what to make of this. Worth listening to though. Maybe Ptatc can listen to this and make some comments.
chitownsportsfan
Frankly he sounds unhinged. This comment on a Jay's forum sums it up well: 'm not saying that Brett Lawrie is not dealing with some sort of physical issues. I'm sure that there are injuries and residual damage from the fact that he seemed to both play and live at hyper speed. That makes perfect sense. But if you listen to the interview there is no real definitive answer to the problem. He provides hyper-kinetic background to the issue and his quest for a "great mind". I think the tone and approach he takes in answering and the oblique references to the "great mind" speak into the root cause for his overall health. It would appear that Brett may be dealing with some psychological issues more than physical. More than a return to playing professional baseball , I wish the man peace and happiness in his personal life and as a husband and father. Sounds like he's on speed in that interview. Or he's manic. He actually explained the concepts of how the kinematic chain of the lower extermity can cause the foot issues that he had. Whoever he is seeing now has a good handle on lower extremity kinematics. Where he is wrong is saying that the orthotics caused the kinematic chain issues. The kinematic chain issues were there, he just got caught up in two different treatment philosophies to treat them. The orthotics change the position of the foot to correct the mechanical issues from the bottom going up. The hip and gluteus treatment he was discussing treats the issue from the top to the bottom. Both can work depending on what is mechanically deficient. Im surprised the white sox didnt try the second approach after the orthotics didnt work but the orthtics didnt cause the issue, this is where the new practitioner is wrong. Orthotics do not cause permanent chages otherwise people wouldnt need to wear them for more than a short period of time. Its actually a really good insight into different methods of treating the same issue. He may be a wackadoodle but he is very intelligent. I honestly just lurk here, but I stop and read every one of your posts. The insight and knowledge you post is amazing. Thank you!
