  1. Perhaps you can provide me with 1st year GMs who had payrolls slashed as much coming off 100 loss seasons who had tighter leashes . No 2 situations are the same and acting as if they are is bs. Yes teams like the Orioles Dbacks ,Pirates all have made strides recently but look how long it took the Orioles and Pirates. How many teams rebuild with the same GM and President in charge of the downfall as well as the rebuild ? How many of those teams refused to play the game in the Dominican Republic like JR has for 45 years ? What do you know about the best coaches, best scouts and best training facilities of other teams as compared to the White Sox ? How often have other teams traded away their international money compared to the Sox ? These are only the questions I can remember to ask. There would probably be many more if I could remember everything about how JR conducts business that seems a bit different than other teams. There's also the fact that the Sox are one team of 2 teams to never have signed a player to a $100M contract. At least I accept the fact I know practically nothing about what's going on behind the scenes and don't pretend to know everything about the Sox and every front office in the game . That's the only reason I have for cutting any executive hired by JR any slack at all.
  2. You are a constant ray of sunshine. Getz' job isn't to accept massive failure. It's to improve the team every chance he finds. He pretty much had his hands tied by the slashed payroll. I really don't think there was much he could do besides spend a little here and there and try to get some projects to turn into minor leaguers at the TDL. I have no idea if Getz will be a good GM or not. It's difficult to say when JR is pulling all the strings. I really have no idea what you think should've happened this off season but I'm pretty sure it was unrealistic from Reinsdorf's perspective. Saying that Getz should just do nothing now isn't going to happen. He has to reshape the future of this franchise without money . Because of that everything is just baby steps that look unimpressive and unimportant . But another minor leaguer at the TDL could end up an important piece for the future no matter how remote that seems.
  3. I think Balta explained it at one point. Like he was only 1 of 2 who qualified or something like that.
  4. Haul doesn't seem like the right word. He'd have to be very good to just get a nice return. He's pitching well now but a long way to go till the TDL and plenty of good teams he'll be facing.
  5. You know bad umpiring isn't all on the catcher. Maldonado while batting took a 1st pitch strike that looked 6 or more inches off the plate. That was a pitch that framing had nothing to do with as are many bad balls and strike calls. Sticking up for bad umpiring is ludicrous . All the bad umpiring scorecards aren't dependent on how a catcher frames it, only on bad calls. If an ump needs a catcher to frame it properly to call a strike then they are worthless.
  6. Maldonado is bad enough without the ump starting him off with a strike on a pitch that might have been the worst strike call of the year, of which there have been plenty.
  7. Vaughn has a bit of a hitch in his swing. Hands still in one spot then pulls then back before he swings.
  8. 11 in a row by Fedde, 7 of the last 10 by K. 9 K now ,1 behind his career high.
