What a change from years past when our #1 picks automatically entered the system at or near the top (Hawkins, Anderson, Fulmer, etc.) There's too much top-end talent for that to occur now, even knowing Burger and perhaps Sheets would have ranked in the top-5 were this, say, 2015. I'm a hair cooler than most on Kopech until his control improves--at least enough to ensure he remains a starter. I also think our AAA pitchers are for the most part doing better than their stats indicate given Charlotte is such a strong hitter's park. With that... 1. Moncada 2b 2. Giolito RHP 3. Robert CF 4. Eminor3rd Posted June 16, 2017 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Yeah I'd say that's 2-3 spots high for Burdi, and I agree that Stephens > Diaz, though I think that's about the range they both belong. My thinking was that Bummer has great stuff (lefty who can hit 97) and Guerrero is repeating AA with a mixed record of success over the last 2 year. I will focus on 10-30 range. - Delmonico absolutely needs to be higher than the likes of Call and Fisher - already performing at a higher level, and ceiling is same or better. - It's hard to justify Cueblo in the top 30 ranking. - Technically Engel and May are still prospects, but I'm fine with leaving them off the ranking - Cooper should be ranked before Diaz, Martinez, Bummer, etc. I would compare him to Chris Bassitt as a prospect. Guerrero That's about the strongest our 11-20 has been in years. 4 or 5 of those guys could lose prospect eligibility before the end of the season though, so hopefully we can add a few more quality prospects at the deadline. On second thought I'd probably put Fisher a couple slots higher. But I have some concerns there. I think Skoug has a higher ceiling even as a hitter than Fisher does, and Skoug also has at least some shot to stick at catcher. But given more thought, I'd probably drop him a few slots. Not many though - he's in the 10-14 range on that list for me. I love the tools, and I think he's shown this year he can stick with a hitting approach. Far more valuable, IMO, than any of May, WGarcia, Liriano or LGarcia (despite Leury's scorching start).
