Alexei wouldn't clear waivers, would he?

Probably, not many contenders are looking for a SS and he is due a sizable (though deserved) paycheck next year.

I doubt they trade him, this is just one of those Sunday lineups.

If Ramirez is traded at all this wouldn't be the way to do it. Plus I think we need a veteran presence in the IF in 2015 so hopefully he doesn't go.

Did Abreu pick up some tweak that I missed? Third game in a row at DH.

Tweaked his hammy a few games ago.

I never really cared for the "He's old for this level so he's no good" argument so I'm hoping Wilkins is legit.....Was it Wilkins or Black that Hawk was raving about in ST?

It was Wilkins. I know I'm gonna get flanked here but what is up with Black? I know he's 27 in AA but he's always hit in the minors, what is his downfall?

A good rule IMO is that a guy who is slightly older than a level needs to really destroy a level to prove that he is big-league ready. Dan black's been a decent hitter in the minors but he's been old for every level and put up in the range of 15-18 home runs per year at previous minor league stops, along with mid-.800 OPS numbers. This year, his first at AAA, .760 OPS, 11 home runs on the season, including some time at AA.

A 27 year old in AAA who is going to contribute to a big league team should be doing what Wilkins did the last couple months, making it clear he's head and shoulders above the league, and even then it's no guarantee. A mid-700's OPS from a 27 year old 1b at AAA isn't a recipe for a guy who is going to help your big league team.
