About f***ing time someone has said this, Ozzie left on miserable terms but he's ready for managing White Sox baseball again and I'm ready for Ozzie ball, Ozzie is a proven fiery winner with the desire to win, Robin comes off as a NyQuil addict who belongs back on his Malibu deck, Robin knows he doesn't want to be here

Just a suggestion for Ozzie, Jim Thome would make an awesome hitting coach, he already worked with Trayce Thompson in the Spring and he's seem to done wonders

Throw in another White Sox employee as well: Aaron Rowand

Ozzie, Coop, Thome, and Crash would provide some South Side excitement...finally, and hopefully a winning culture immediately, World Series Champs 2016

1. Fire Robin

2. Hire Ozzie as interim manager (who really cares about the rest of this year

3. Hire Sandy Almost Jr. in the off-season if not sooner

The article reaching the desperate conclusion of putting Ozzie back in charge of the circus, taking some shots against Ventura and Mark Parent along the way...

NO matter where you are on the Ventura firing, that reads like a fan boy wrote it. I should have read that on a fan site, not a newspaper. Awful.

Once you hire Ozzie, you're not letting him go, he's in it for the long run

Hire Sandy Alomar Jr or Dave Martinez or someone else then. Try to bring Omar Vizquel in in the off-season as a bench coach and to work with young infielders on defense (they gotta be friends from Indians days right?).

We blame the Sox for hiring insiders, well that is abetted by the fan base that loves the heroes.

Forget Ozzie - he was a clownshow his last couple of years. He never could evaluate talent worth a hoot. When he didn't like a player, he compelled Williams to basically give him away. He wanted a team of hackers.

Get someone from the outside, please; and someone who uses modern techniques.

Robin, of course, isn't the sole issue or even the greatest issue. Drafting and development is, as well as overall talent evaluation.

Why do people complain the White Sox hire their own and then suggest guys like Ozzie, Thome, Alomar, and Martinez?

The Sun Times article is pretty funny considering it is written by Chris De Luca, a guy who refused to fire Cowley, and a guy whose own people think is very incompetent at his job as a managing editor (see Jim O'Donnell). People have been calling for his head for years.

I just hope that Hahn does something to shake up this team. The only things he has done so far this season is bring up Rodon and Sanchez. Rodon has worked out and Sanchez isn't hitting his weight. I'm surprised that nothing else has been done. Now that the press is dumping all over Ventura, I would think he will be replaced sometime before the All Star break.

#1- Just my humble opinion, I don't think the media has the impact they used to.

#2- I don't think Ventura will be replaced during the season. The time to do it was May. Now? Who cares?

#3- If they do fire Ventura during the season, it won't be until after Reunion Weekend. July 20 is an off day while they're still home. That would be the day.

First of all, I'm not answering a ****ing survey question to read that column. Why do newspapers not seem to understand how the internet works in 2015? Never mind, I think I know the answer.

EDIT: Clicked the link again and I didn't have to take a survey. Whatever. That column's only function was to throw raw meat to the dogs.

Second, if you are calling for the White Sox to hire Ozzie, you are not thinking critically about the team. It is a lazy and stupid suggestion.

Ventura is low hanging fruit.

Rather see analysis of the Sox drafting, evaluation and front office.

If you fire Ventura, Cooper should go too. But i don't see the point in firing them now really just to put the bench coach in charge.

Well, the column certainly doesn't advocate for Mark Parent like Cowley used to do with the Joey Cora fluff pieces.

In some ways, I think it makes sense. The problem with the White Sox hiring from within all the time is that they do not hire people with a history or success or a different philosophy from what they already have. That is not the problem with Ozzie. He has proven that his way of doing things can be successful. He was not successful in 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2012, and a lot of that at the end was do to hubris and not being able to stay out of his own way. However, he also managed teams that won 83, 99 (World Series), 90, 89, and 88 games in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2010. His ability to push himself into the limelight whenever the media started to focus on struggling players in 2005 was masterful. He kept the pressure off of them. The question would be whether his failure in Florida was humbling enough for him to learn from it and become that guy again. I think a half season as interim manager would be worth it to find out.

Advocates trading Chris Sale, among other ideas...which is basically blowing up the entire roster and starting over.

Fact is, nobody’s sure how the Sox front office works after Williams’ comments over the weekend that Hahn isn’t good enough to take Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf’s first phone call.

Hahn, though, made the announcements of the new signings and acquisitions last offseason. So, I guess Hahn is in charge of making the roster and Williams is in charge of blowing it up.

That’s apparently why Williams accompanied the Sox during consecutive series losses in Minnesota and Detroit. He wanted to evaluate players. He didn’t need to spend the money. The players stink. Trade as many as you can as fast as you can.

39% blame players, 36% blame Ventura/coaching, 25% the front office

David Haugh with an even stronger shot across the bow...

Stop yourself before suggesting managers make no impact on wins and losses. Save the sabermetrics for evaluating leadoff hitters and relief pitchers. Some things in baseball simply cannot be adequately measured by an acronym. A city where Cubs manager Joe Maddon works is the wrong place to make that argument too. Like a boss in any profession, the right manager can create a culture conducive to winning whether establishing that new environment involves more structure, accountability or just plain fun. Who is the Sox's Maddon to lead the total rebuild necessary? Should Ventura be the only guy to go? Even if it takes until next offseason to answer those questions, starting the process now makes sense.

....

When Reinsdorf discusses the future of the Sox with executive vice president Ken Williams or general manager Rick Hahn — in that order, as Williams made clear — you suddenly wonder how capable he is of distinguishing between Ventura the manager and Ventura the person he has known and admired for 26 years.
