I really would like to see Raines get it, but it isn't looking good.

Raines should be in. He was definitely under appreciated from Age 28-35.

81-87, he was a superstar, but missed key time because of a strike and collusion in 1987.

88-95, he probably wasn't a star player, but his OBP was still .375.

Career .385 OBP, all time SB percentage leader...yeah, I don't get it.

Probably a combination of the cocaine thing, not being a star in his post-Expos years, undervaluing walks, and being a bench player for a 6-7 years have kept him out.

There's a lot of bad perception here.

16% of voters didn't vote for Frank Thomas. You just can't use logic with a group like that.

Facetious?

No. There was an article about Piazza and steroids several years ago. It was mentioned his back had a ton of zits, one common side effect.

He is obviously considered a steroid user by some, or there is no way he's not a first ballot HOFer as a catcher, and I think this is his 3rd year of eligibilty, and he looks to be barely above the cutoff.

They should be able to keep their ballots private if they want to. You're supposed to make the right vote, not the popular one. If backlash will have a chilling effect, then you can't make them public.

If you're not willing to stand behind your vote then I don't believe you think it's the "right" one.

Or the truly right vote isn't the popular vote. Why piss off your readers to do the right thing? Secret ballots are how we decide most elections. I would rather they vote and not be able to use it as a marketing piece for their careers.

Give me an example.

If you think tetrahydrogestrinone belongs in the hall of fame, or you think Greg Maddux does not belong there, tell me why.

You have to realize that in some cases, these guys might even be impacting their job security. They've been chosen as fit to make these judgments and don't have to justify anything to random people like us. If they do want to make justifications, great.

You are a writer covering the Cubs in Chicago and think Sosa should not be in the HoF. The Cubs management believes it will sell tickets, etc etc. You will not be welcome around their clubhouse if your no to Sosa vote is made public.

83-year-old BBWAA member, Garry Brown, forgot to vote Smoltz because of a "brain freeze". But did vote for Randy Johnson, who was thought to have been left off his ballot too.

Randy Johnson is at 100% through 93 votes.

Garry Brown is the epitome of somebody who should no longer vote on this.

3 locks. Biggio will probably hang on for a record 4th. Expecting Piazza to fall below.

Decent chance McGwire, Sosa, and Sheffield will fall off--which is nice.
