  1. You can't be serious about being mad the sox are not signing FA's. The Market so inflated it's a joke. Besides, in the modern era of baseball, the long term/high dollar free agent contacts almost always don't work out. Nowadays teams give bad players 5 years and get maybe one or two good years out of them. I really have no problem with the white sox not dealing with Boras or giving bad contracts for that matter. But KW can't win here anyway, because people would complain about him spending too much money on player X (the Linbrink deal is a great example).
  2. for all that do not like this deal: Name a pitcher the white sox have been wrong about the last 20 years (ala traded away or didnt resign and amounted to something)? Besides Navaro, this team has not been burned.
  3. I still remember like it was yesterday...I was a freshman at Illinois State. Greatest night of my life. I dont think I will ever hug that many strangers again in my life...let alone in one night.
  4. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 11:19 AM) KW sitting on his hands ALL winter not filling holes caught up with Mr.Smugass. i am wondering who you would have liked KW to get reasonablly. face it, it was a weak free agent class where over paying was all the rage. im glad he "sat on his hands" and ditngive guys like dave robers multi-year deals. QUOTE(Wanne @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) It all comes down the the Hindsight game. I can't speak for anybody...but if the Sox knew Crede had back issues back in '05...it would have made some sense to unload him at his peak value. seeing as how people reacted on this board when garcia was traded, i dont even want to think about the reactions of a crede trade after 05.
  5. speaking of the all star game, why is it in san fran this year? it was in pitt last year, why another NL city?
  6. QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 09:26 PM) I haven't really paid attention to the Sox this season, so who do you think will be their representative(s) for the All Star Game? Bobby Jenks and thats it.
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 06:54 PM) Javy struck out 8 in 6 innings. Man, he's good. Only gave up 5 runs. I'm glad the Sox gave him an immovable contract through 2010. c'mon, the contract isnt that bad. look at what the going rate is for pitching. hell vazquez is better than the crap the cubs paid a ton of cash for last off season. plus, he takes the ball every 5th day.
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) Yeah, I have a hard time bringing myself to watch the games. This team just isn't any fun to watch. I'd say it's time to give up on this year and make any deals we can to get some young talent. i agree for the most part, but josh fields has been fun to watch the past week or so.
  9. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ May 28, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) Ya, I had the same problem with the Yankee rainout. speaking of that game, did you ever figure out how to exchange those tickets? ticketbastard wasnt working for me.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ May 19, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) My biggest concern with KW as a GM if we're going into rebuilding mode is that he has a bad history of trading veteran players for prospects. i disagree. Those bad moves were made early in his GM days. I think he has shown great ability to see talent and pull the trigger (ie mccarthy for danks).
  11. i'd like to know who you guys want to lead this team that is available right now. c'mon, there is nobody really any damn good out there, and lets face it, ozzie has had back to back 90 win seasons. if you want to b**** about this year then i think a lot of it is on kenny. no lead off, bad CF, and really what is a lineup that is quickly getting kinda old.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 15, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) The only way you get a refund is the game is not rescheduled as either a separate game or a split double header. However the game was scheduled as part of a day night double header. Your ticket is valid for tomorrows game only. I am kind of irritated because these were my best seating location in my Ozzie plan, Section 115. I just transfered them to my brother via my online account manager. He works nights and can actually go. The language is on the back of your ticket. thanks, i read all that stuff on the ticket, but figured i would ask for sure. im irritated because these seats were lower deck and i have not sat lower deck in 3 years or so.
  13. since tuesdays game was rained out...and i have four tickets to a game that i cannot make, is there anything i can do to get a refund from the sox/ exchange for another game? the sox website is as useful as a bad of.... well you know...so i figured i would ask the masses here. thanks guys.
  14. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 8, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) Hawk said something like "he's a strong one" or "he has some power" immediately before he blasted it. But other than that, they didn't question it. They don't question anything. i hate to say it but im growing tired of them. I guess it just seems like they have an excuse for everything. The only thing I hate worse than the radical fan who gets worked up over everything is thr fan that is "well you know june will come around and we'll start hitting." Also, after thinking about it a bit longer, and i can in a way see why he decided not to pitch to cirillo. Heres my thinking: walk obviusly loads the bases and a single scores anything. Yet if you have a little luck involved aka a hard hit that drops, maybe the runner on second doesnt score. Not that I agree with the thinking, but its the only thing I can think of without looking at career numbers of our pen guys against morneau QUOTE(BearSox @ May 8, 2007 -> 11:41 PM) But I don't blame this on Ozzie at all. When the team has a 4-1 lead going into the eight, it nobody to blame but the players. Sure some of the IBB's were questionable, but this wasn't Ozzie's fault at all. He wasn't the one who left a cookie belly-button high to Morneu. What I have been trying to get through to everyone tonight. Bonzer gave our hitters a ton of chances to break the game open and no dice.
  15. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 8, 2007 -> 11:24 PM) There was no reason to pitch to Monreau. And no, no one would have beens saying "why did ozzie pitch to cirillo?" because the bases were loaded and Cirillo is much less of a threat than Monreau. When you have to rely so heavily on hyperbole to make you point, you usually don't have a good one. That I cant argue with. Hell I was screaming at my computer wondering why they were not pitching to Cirillo. However, this loss is not on ozzie alone. The bullpen blew the lead, and everyone saw that homerun coming a mile away. I was at the library studying in the 10th so i was following through gamecast...but what did hawk and dj have to say before the homerun in the 10th?
