  1. I've been a fanof Schuster for many years now especially after working with his Dad for 10yrs. It's been cool to see the pride Dad has for John...wishing best of luck to these guys .
  2. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 22, 2017 -> 07:04 PM) Courtney Hawkins having another tough night. 3 AB's, all strikeouts. What's the point here in keeping him? Do him a favor and release him. Maybe another org can help him. It seems like he is never going to be a decent hitter, but I'd like to see them at least let him try as a pitcher.
  3. I'm sure many of you have been on Twitter, but I did see a tweet {I hate that word} that said some source familiar with the Roberts camp stated that he was looking at 25-29 million to sign. I have no idea how accurate this is, but it was thinking he would be asking for around 20 million.
  4. QUOTE (steagles @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) Brendan McKay is 100% going to be a pitcher at the next level. However, he still has a great bat that has Bumgarner potential at the plate. Brendan is the best college arm in this class. Yes I am biased because I know him, but I also know how hard he works every day and what kind of person he is. He is going to be special. On a side note, I have also watched Jordan Adell a few times and I think he projects to be a corner OF. Ballard has him in center, but that wont stick IMO. As a Louisville student I wish he'd come (never in a million years) but as a life long Sox fan I would LOVE to see us draft him. I can't believe that McKay would fall that far down to the White Sox. Getting him at 11 is a reach.
  5. So what's this tweet about from Peter Gammons: Absolutely sickened by the Whitesox mini camp.....what the hell is he talking about? I tweeted back asking what was wrong and the crotched old fart hasn't answered back yet.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Oct 10, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) Jackie Bradley Jr's value is not anywhere near Sale, IMO. He's a nice first piece, but I'd still want 4 of their top prospects with him. JBJ, Beintendi, Devers, Kopech and Rodriguez. If they're unwilling to include JBJ, then take Moncada. The Red Sox are about to get knocked out of the playoffs in the first round because they have mediocre SP. There will be pressure to make a move, and there are no moves to be made on the FA market. That's called leverage. I agree with what you are saying here about what it would take to get for Chris Sale and many of the other posts here. There is one thing that hasn't been brought up and that is Boston thought they were getting a Ace last offseason when they signed David Price for 30+ million a year contract. I damn near fell out of chair when I saw that and it wasn't because I was a huge fan of Price. I think it just shows how much teams will pay for what they feel will be a true Ace. This and what Arizona paid for Zack Greinke which at the time I thought was one of the worst Free Agent contracts of all time.
  7. Not a big fan of Castillo, but would love to see the Sox talk to the Cardinals about Randal Grichuk who they sent down to Triple A.
  8. Was Taj Gibson's Father a carpenter? If so it would explain why he catches every entry pass like his hands are made of wood. Just once catch the damn ball cleanly, take the ball strong to the hoop. I'm so sick of watching him bobble the entry pass, take a couple of dribbles then have his shot blocked....wtf!!!!
  9. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 07:19 AM) I'm so tired of hearing about posturing, Bob Nightengale, 3-year plans, etc. Let's get spring training started already. Totally agree with you here!!! After hearing what Nightengale said yesterday about the White Sox having no cash left I wanted to puke and turn off the MLB channel, but am so glad that I kept watching and getting a chance to listen to the debate between Chris Russo and Brian Kenney....that was priceless!!!
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 12:08 AM) damn.... a great question. Adams or Zangari or for me as well Engel all 3 will show something very important for different reasons. the unknown who make a surprise entry. ~ Blake Hickman, - i really would love to see what he brings to the table, was hurt last yr ~ Jordon Stephens - tjs just the yr before his draft, nice profile.... i trust the sox pitching coaches to take care of him. mean no rushing. ~ Lassiter - i like him b/c of his name and b/c he has a cocky attitude, reminds me of Eaton ..... the biggest "is he a prospect or not" will have to be Hawkins. remember all this is subjective. I have to agree with the 3 picks of Adams, Zangari and Engel along with a guy you just can't help rooting for...Eddy Alvarez. Really hoping that Engel can continue to build on his AFL performance and be someone that the Sox can rely on in the near future.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 11:31 AM) I heard "White Sox are interested in Desmond which makes a lot of sense." Ok, now I know that quoting anything from Phil Rogers isn't a stamp of approval, but he did say on the MLB network that the Sox's were interested in Desmond and also Jimmy Rollins...just saying.
  12. Thanks again for all the hard work you guys do....was kinda hoping to see one of my favorite players make it in the top 30 group...Eddie Alvarez.
  13. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/roya...en-zobrist.html The Royals are really going all in this year...another great pickup for them!!
  14. For the past few years, like many others here I have wanted to see an upgrade at catcher...but just maybe we should start to listen what Chris Sale and others on the pitching staff have to say and how they rave about Flowers work behind the plate.
  15. This may not be the right place for this, but as frustrated as I am with the Sox play this year there are other teams around that had high expectations going into this year that are playing really horrible. I just looked at the standings and am really surprised at the teams that spent a ton of money and how poorly they are doing. Out here in the PNW Seattle fans are really pissed, the Red Sox still had crappy pitching even with all the money they spent. In the NL look at the Marlins, Padres and the Arizona...and oh yeah, I'm sure the Cleveland fans are happy. Just saying here that a lot of teams that spent big this past winter had high expectations and are playing horrible baseball so it's not only us Sox fans that are disappointed with their teams play. I'm so happy to have found this board and able to read so many great comments...most are really great to read and some others have me laughing like crazy, but that's the point. So many diehard fans with different opinions make an interesting morning read. Thanks to all the people who put in so much work to make this board go.
