It worked! Such a sweet swing by Yoan. I can't wait to see him grow and develop and then just terrorize the league and division in his prime.

I'm thinking the Tigers, Twinkies and Royals are really going to get sick of him over the next 3-5 years. Indians might win enough not to let it bother them.

Avi removed from the game for some reason not yet apparent. The Mighty Hanson now batting 5th .

I was just going to ask if anyone knew why. I'm only watching the MLB app gamecast.

With that HR Moncada has now surpassed Devers in wRC+. Pretty impressive considering where they both were just a couple weeks ago.

That's wild.

I'm kinda surprised his wRC+ is so high. Elevated because of baserunning then?

It's elevated because he has an absurd isoD of .109 (walk rate is 12.8%) and a very good (for a 22 year old 2B) iso of .198. For perspective, Avi has an iso of .171 this year.

Kid hits the ball hard and he takes his walks. He's going to be a star. He has already surpassed my expectations for his rookie year. I was hoping he'd hold his own, maybe slash like 250/300/400, and then we'd hope for a league average or better bat next year while playing a solid 2B and finish around 3 WAR.

Well, it looks like he might be ready to put up 5 WAR next year. That would be pretty f***ing amazing.

I don't think baserunning factors in, it's more his OBP that's driving it. And his BsR is currently only rated 0.1 anyway (though that seems low).

EDIT: nevermind it does factor in.

Yeah it modifies a formula from a baserunning metric but I didn't know how it's weighted.

All good stuff. Even if he ends up being a streaky hitter as he has been this year, he walks even in down times and gets on base. He's going to touch home a lot for us.
