He had a easy-to-repeat motion, which is why I think people said he had good mechanics. However, he had an awful timing issue that put a lot of stress on his arm.

He had perfect mechanics if you go by the House/Nolan Ryan/Rothschild version of pitching mechanics. There are just others who disagree with their version. I happen to be one of them.

 

Edit: I also don't think he was on PEDs.
