This is with John Danks being a gas can, Sale having an inauspicious start and Rodon getting RAVAGED by the Angels that one game.

I dont think Latos finishes with an ERA <1.00, but other than that I dont see too much about the Sox pitching now that cant be sustained. The Sox have been investing in these guys for years and now they have a killer rotation and lights-out bullpen. This is not an accident, if the Mets were putting up these numbers (they kind of are, but NL is a baby league) would you think its unsustainable? Why cant it be for the Sox?

The Mets are pitching better than the Sox so far (3.4 WAR) AND they have an unreasonably high .340 BABIP... so they're only going to get BETTER.

We're not as good as the Mets pitching-wise.

Woah, woah woah.....We are the only team in the AL who has had more than 1 shutout??? That can't be right...like at all.

I checked it myself, day-by-day. It's true. The White Sox have three team shutouts, and the Astros, Angels, Indians, Rangers, Jays, Rays, Royals and Tigers each have one.

In the land where pitchers hit, there have been way more. Just remember how the Dodgers started their season.

Blows my mind.

The back end of the rotation, Danks and Latos, have a combined 3.34 ERA. That would be the greatest coup in baseball history if it continued for the whole season. It won't. Latos isn't that good. Danks isn't that bad. It's pointless to care about these numbers now. Pick any baseball player and you can find a 15 game stretch last year where they were peak Ken Griffey Jr./Greg Maddux and another 15 games were they were busted feet Conor Gillaspie/2005 Shingo Takatsu. People are irrationally overly invested in this particular 15 games because it represents "THE ENTIRE SEASON." It pointless, it's stupid. Trevor Story, though he might be good, isn't Roy Hobbs.

The only actual meaningful facts to note regarding Danks is that he's in the final year of his contract and the team has absolutely zero reason to do anything bother than use the best 5th starter they own, unlike the last few years. If he stinks amazingly and terribly enough for long enough the guys in Charlotte will get a shot and assuming we're competitive in June, a trade acquisition becomes a top priority. Thank you, Drake LaRoche.

While I agree Latos isn't this good, I do believe Danks IS this bad.

Hyperbolic, I know...but when Danks pitches, I won't bother watching anymore. I go out of my way to make sure Danks doesn't pitch games I attend.

I just assume we lost when he starts, which we usually do, unless the offense puts up 7 runs, in which case he isn't winning, the offense is.

Danks sucks...I want him gone.

Replace him with anybody, I don't care. :P

Thinking about Danks numbers. Before expansion, he would have been teaching a PE class somewhere and impressing the kids with his stuff.

Before expansion? What does this mean? Did you forget that there's a reason he got the contract he did in the first place?

You have a point. I'm not being 100% accurate.

I was thinking more general. When there were 24 teams with 4 starters there were less than 100 starting pitchers. But, yes, you are correct he probably would still be around.
