respect him for doing what is most important for his family. one of my least liked sox ever though

What exactly did Peavy do to deserve your disdain? Dude was intense but he had a very serious injury and worked his ass off to overcome it and his Sox career is actually a lot better than people give him credit for. He made just 83 starts in a Sox uniform due to the injury and in those 83 starts he accumulated 10.8 fWAR. That works out to roughly 4 fWAR per full season pitched. That's pretty damn good.

Looking at what we gave up for him at the time, we won that deal by a landslide.

After the injury he had, I was super impressed that he was able to pitch again, even at a reduced skill level.

The guy talked the talk and never walked the walk. (Sorry for the cheesy cliche). The year the Sox were most competitive, all I heard from Peavy was that he was a bulldog. Then Detroit beat his ass every team they faced him. Then in late September, the Sox had a must win, I think against the Angels, and he didn't even finish like 4 innings. He was a disappointment with the Sox yet he kept talking about how bad ass he was. Right up there with Swisher and Eaton on the unlikable list.
