  1. QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 07:09 PM) I have donated to ALS. I find this annoying. Its the narcissism (HEY LOOK AT ME!! ICE WATER!!!) that I find annoying. That's why its popular, because it appeals to the selfish (which are the masses). Overall its a very good thing, we agree. I just don't like watching the stupid videos. I don't find that part entertaining in anyway. I'm kind of tired of your implied insults and closed mindedness. Believe it or not, you don't know why or how other people have formed their opinions. I posted one time, why would you say you are kind of tired of my implied insults and closed mindedness after one post? That doesn't even make sense. As if I've been harping on these things for awhile. I don't know exactly why you have formed your opinion, but it absolutely is the opinion of a dumbass. No non-dumbass would have it.
  2. QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 02:06 PM) So you needed a viral, attention whoring event to become aware enough to make a donation, but everyone who had donated to ALS research before it existed is soulless if they are annoyed even a little bit. Gotcha. I dont believe in souls but that is still a pretty ignorant and derogatory thing to say. Why would someone who has donated to ALS research be annoyed by this? The only reason I can think of is that they are a huge narcissist who only donated in the first place to get some kind of credit for being someone who donates money.
  3. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Jan 9, 2013 -> 11:21 PM) Tom Glavine has 305 wins, but he also has a career 3.95 FIP, which would put him in the following group (3.85-to-3.99 range) Tom Candiotti Mark Langston Danny Darwin Mike Flanagan Dennis Martinez Jimmy Key Chuck Finley David Wells Jack McDowell Kevin Millwood Derek Lowe Javier Vazquez John Lackey I only looked at starters with a career WAR of 30 or better. Glavine does not impress me. He might be the most overrated SP of the past quarter century. Those wins throw people off, and then some. You can't just say Glavine is similar to thee guys because they have the same FIP. Its not an end all statistic. And obviously it overrates guys who get a lot of strikeouts and underrates guys who are good at getting hitters off balance and getting them to consistently hit fieldable balls in play. Which is what Glavine was. Obviously when a stat puts Glavine in the same sentence with Javier Vazquez you know the stat can be misleading with certain players. Glavine is obviously one of those guys. Glavine was significantly better than every single guy you listed.
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) Do you walk Pujols here? Seems smart.
  5. This isn't as bad as 2005 when people wanted Konerko off the team midseason because he was selfish and only cared about hitting homeruns. I remember one reaction by I think a poster called soxfan1 or something where konerko popped out and he posted GET OFF MY TEAM. Its one of those odd things where I know I'll never forget reading that and being flabbergasted. At least with Ventura you can understand why people would be upset over hiring some guy with no experience.
  6. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) Escobar 6, Youk 5, Dunn DH, Konerko 3, Rios 9, Viciedo 7, Flowers 2, Beckham 4, Danks 8, Humber P. No ADA or Alexei, AJ still out. Yeah, we're not winning this one. Jinx? Uhh, its baseball.
  7. The Dunn C grade is absolutely absurd. You are acting like Trump with the birth certificate thing. Have you seen Dunn's numbers this year with runners on base? OPS well over 1.100. Your nonsense about his strikeouts being important because he isn't moving runners over fails to hold up since all his strikeouts are coming with no one on base anyway. There is a reason why Dunn has more RBIs than Konerko even though he is hitting 140 points less. Also Dunn basically did nothing but strike out for the last week so you are judging his numbers after a short cold streak that significantly changed BA, strikeout total, and OPS. How does the last week (when we went 6-1) somehow mean that much to his season? This is why message boards get bogged down, people can't be wrong even when they are wrong. Dunn has been awesome this year just give him some props and move on.
  8. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ May 30, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Wrong, they let Alex Gordon work out his issues in the bigs, got hurt, then sent him to the minors, and now is ruined. Gordon needs to get his confidence back and it's not going to work in the bigs. Alex Gordon just wasn't any good. He isn't ruined. Injuries have hurt his career more than anything else. Alex Gordon has never really been THAT good. He came into the big leagues and hit under .200 for most of the first half as a rookie and then settled in as a .750 OPS guy the next couple years amid injuries. Gordon Beckham had a good rookie year. His struggles right now are probably mental and he will work out of them no matter where the organization sends him or doesn't send him. If he doesn't break out of it and then does little during his career it is because he just didn't have it. There is no "well if we would have sent him down he'd be a superstar".
  9. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) JD higher average, more rbi, more runs scored, more home runs Zobrist has an OPS of 1.015
  10. If you click on the Konerko outlook for 08 video you can hear Dust in the Wind by Kansas in the background.
  11. How come anyone isnt saying Paul Konerko. When I joined this board early in 2005 everyone on this board seemed to hate him. He is a selfish scumbag...right?
  12. Ozzie is peeling the Royal.com thing off the railing of the dugout.
  13. John Danks doesn't care who he faces, he just goes out there and be's John Danks.
  14. We look like a real baseball team kinda
