  1. Depends whether he’s hurt or not. If he’s hurt, he should be on the DL. If he’s sore, he needs to suck it up and play better. He’s had breaks. He had 3 days off in a row before the Cardinals series.
  2. It’s on the team for not putting a stop to it earlier. “If I see you slide headfirst into first base again, you don’t play”. Ricky’s Boys Don’t Listen
  3. Mendick is the only player on the team taking pitches and having good at bats right now.
  4. I agree, but I just believe the organization needs to be overhauled from soup to nuts. If you want your hitters to come up to the major leagues with a better approach at the plate, it starts with your player development staff in the minor leagues. From the DSL through AAA. It doesn't seem like plate discipline is taken seriously within the organization. It's one thing to draft guys who don't have plate discipline, but it is another thing to watch as players never improve their plate discipline as they matriculate through the minor leagues. Guys like Anderson, Leury, Robert, Engel, Madrigal, and Eloy have all passed through the White Sox minor league system, and I wouldn't consider any of them to have a plus batting eye. Tim Anderson won the batting title last year. I can;t imagine that pitchers are looking to throw an excess of pitches in the zone against him. Just imagine him walking at 6-7 % with his speed on the basepaths. So yes, get rid of the manager and the coaches. No issue there. But a lot more than that needs to be overhauled before we can say this organization is moving in the direction of teams like the Dodgers, Yankees, Astros, Twins, Brewers. Why is this organization going out and acquiring corner outfielders coming off 6% BB rate seasons?
  5. Particularly Vaughn. At this point, I’m not averse to letting Collins DH against RHP. I get it, he has no hits and his hit tool is well below average right now, but maybe he gets into a rhythm, takes pitches, works a few walks, gets something different going.
  6. Where are all the people who were touting the offense after the first few series’s? Again, I don’t care how much talent you have, I don’t care how much exit velocity you can generate, if you consistently swing at balls, you will never have a consistent offense. This team will break out of the slump and score in bunches again. But they’ll never be a consistently good offense because the majority of hitters on the team have a poor approach at the plate.
  7. When has plate discipline bene emphasized within the organization? Maybe within the next few years Hahn will get around to reading a book that refers to Kevin Youkilis as the "Greek God of Walks". Then he'll realize how important they are.
  8. Is there anywhere to find how often a team is behind in the count? Checked Fangraphs and couldn't find it. It feels like this team is behind in the count 1-2 on every at-bat. To be first in .avg is incredible.
  9. I think Renteria cost them the game yesterday before Eloy did what he did. I don't think there was any reason for Gio to be in the game past the 4th. He walked a tightrope just to get to that point. The bullpen was moderately rested. To me, that was a game where you have to do everything in your power to protect the lead.
  10. No chance any changes get made unless Renteria wants to leave. The Sox are essentially Cuba. Other parts of the league may be driving around in BMW's and Tesla's, but the Sox are going to ride this '57 Buick Special until the engine falls out.
  11. Counsell had his bullpen warming up in the 5th inning to relieve a pitcher who was doing better than Gonzalez. That's the difference between these two managers. We're still stuck in the past. There was no reason for it. They had arms available in the pen to relive Gonzalez. Take your 4 decent innings, count your blessings, and move on.
  12. Eloy is a bad LF, but everyone already knew this. How about Renteria allowing Gonzalez to face a lineup three times?!?! How about Renteria allowing Gonzalez to face a lineup three times with no one warming up?!?! How does that happen in this day and age? Once Gonzalez gives you 4 innings, his leash should be incredibly short. Any sort of trouble and you pull him. I just can't believe how antiquated this organization is as it relates to pitching.
  13. Watched the game on delay. To witness Gio Gonzalez: 1. face a lineup 3x 2. Face a lineup 3x with no one warming up. Tells me everything I need to know about this manager. You’ll never win anything meaningful with him. He gave the game away before it ever got out of hand.
