  1. With $141 billion in unfunded pension liabilities and several members of my family being teachers, I’d rather their retirement be figured out instead of taxpayer funded stadiums.
  2. But what happens if the hotel tax revenue is short and the Sox and or Bears stadium relies on that revenue? I have to think taxes will be coming from the infrastructure that would be needed unless that came from the capital projects law Pritzker signed.
  3. Even the White Sox got roasted in a NFL Draft Meeting!
  4. Wish it could be a retractable roof. Meh, it’s cool. But it’s not worth the taxpayer dollars given the financial situation of the state and Chicago. Yes. Budget gimmicks. They might have mentioned how at the press conference today, but I haven’t seen the financials yet.
  5. Especially when there is nothing wrong with the facility they have aside from not maximizing profits with a neighborhood around the stadium.
  6. Then the Sox should be prepared to not have fans in the middle class attend games either on a regular basis or at all. Those tailgating lots and parking spots make all of the difference for affordability to go to games. If they went to the loop and didn’t have much parking, they would need to ensure more fans attend games and that richer fans/more corporate types made going to Sox games a regular thing. Cubs fans have seen the record but there’s no need to be condescending. It’s clear the Sox suck and we have a crappy owner. I think the Cubs and Sox rivalry over the years has kind of died down now that both franchises have won a World Series. There will be taxes of some kind. They haven’t even approached the state or had anything voted on yet.
  7. I hope you are all right and that anyone who thinks JR or the new owner will move the team are wrong. I have thought about if the Sox moved if I would need to be a Cubs fan by default to enjoy some baseball. I would not get the same attachment to them as I did the White Sox. There is no family history on the north side (except for my wife who is a Cubs fan) and my family grew up on the south side. I couldn’t do it. Parking at GRF is one of the easy things about going to the game. I can park and tailgate there and then go to a game for an affordable price. I can’t say the same at Wrigley. Wrigley’s concourse is a b**** to get around as well.
  8. Low calls missed. But Kopech and Wilson bombs did this one in.
  9. I wonder what a buyer thinks of Guaranteed Rate Field and doesn’t think their current home works for the White Sox and fans. I also wonder if a buyer would move them out of the state, or if we should be more concerned with JR threatening moving out of the state.
  10. He may have, but this would only be a tentative agreement. I would have to go back to the Sox stadium thread for the financials, but what we know is they still owe on Soldier Field, Pritzker is not warming on the idea to financing anything but infrastructure to the new stadium and they were using an existing tax to try and get funding for the new stadium. The Bears and Sox both were supposed to provide proposals for public funding so how would this agreement with the city impact the Sox? Lots of questions remain unanswered…and nothing is set in stone until the ink dries and construction begins. Have teams forfeited picks to other teams or have they just forfeited picks and foregone their draft position? The latter is what I was thinking.

  12. My profile shows that I joined in 2003, but under a different name I joined with earlier. I remember the poster that Jason mentioned as well as SoxNet and Sox N Roll. I had been posting on the whitesox.com forums where posters like CWSox and Hot Sox Chick were, but found out about this site and posted here instead of WSI. What was cool about this site is that I was given the ability to write since I was interested in sports journalism at the time. This site has led to some interesting outings with posters in real life (Quickman and JimH) through a connection my dad had, as well as meeting some other posters (Steff? and others at a game in 2004 or 2005). It’s had fun threads like “Mother Fucking b**** Ass Passionless White Sox,” informative forums like the main forum and Sex, Lies and Politics.😂 I have learned a lot from posters over the years here and continue to learn about advanced stats in baseball from people here. It’s real cool to see the site evolve and a privilege to come to a cool place to talk, read or b**** about White Sox baseball.
