  1. Sure, if the owner has decided not to spend any money at all on free agents and the only way we can get good is to build entirely through the farm, we should trade LuBob. But if the young pitching continues to come around, and the owner is willing to spend the amounts that he was willing to spend when Hahn was in charge, we should keep Luis Robert and we should sign two or three quality free agents who are not relievers and try to win this thing in a couple of years.
  2. Garcia has had 4 straight scoreless outings. I just don't see us getting much for Fredde. Lynn had a history and was still striking people out at high rates; I can see the Dodgers thinking they could get him squared away. Hahn did arguably his best work in with the Angels. He finally did a deal on OUR terms, taking advantage of the Angels eagerness to take one last big swing in the last days of Ohtani. I'm not sure that Getz will be that tactical; but I didn't think Hahn could be either.
  3. As of now, I prefer to think of Getz as proactive, if only to help my sanity. And I gotta say, these young pitchers are looking pretty good. But we better match them up with some hitters, or we going to be in the shts for a long time.
  4. Being on that Charlotte team is a penance. That operation is basket-case, second only to the major league operation. Send him to Birmingham so that he doesn't have the shi$$ness of the team weighting down his development.
  5. Kopech threw 24 pitches. Why was he unavailable? If they are trying to turn him into a trade piece (which they should - he has the same control timetable as Cease did), they're doing a lousy job of it. They have about 2 months to prove that he's major league closer capable of handling high leverage situations and pitching multiple innings, then he needs to pitch. Save situations will be rare for this team. As of now, he's former top prospect with a lot of arm talent, who's been floundering for a couple of years in the majors.
  6. In the words of Gunnery Sargent Hartman, "What was that? What the f.. was that?"
  7. What were the Sox supposed to do with Palka after that season? Cut him? They never penciled him in for anything. And one day, we might get some fortune with one of these guys. Sometimes it does take a while. See Naylor, who sucked for 5 seasons before he got good.
  8. The 2 was the anomaly. Usually, everybody gets an inning. He just doesn't manage to win the game. Not surprisingly, when he doesn't do his usual and lets Kopech pitch 2, the Sox win. "Oh those melons; if he's able; we're to have a feast, so nice." "One goes to the Abbot's table; all of us get each a slice." Robert Browning
  9. It's game after game like this. Each reliever gets his inning. But don't tire them any, 150 games left to play. Bryan Shaw - good gracious, he shouldn't have even made the team out of the Spring.
  10. And they made a bunch of sorry trades after the 1967 season to abet the effort. And the Miracle Mets will be forever grateful.
  11. Well the Sox had 6 walks and did zip; maybe they are just walking us to make it more challenging - sort of like giving us a head start.
  12. Pedro is so passive when managing the bullpen. Make sure someone's completely lost it before lifting them. He's got 8 pitchers; use them and try to win a game.
  13. Sox are going to be mostly sh$$y until they develop a good farm system. Yea, the current snapshot of the Sox' prospects is okay today (although I suspect it's more in the 15-20 range), but the farm system and infrastructure are still bottom-quartile. When Williams took over, yes he inherited well, but the Sox also had a good farm (which he helped to build). The Sox had a good farm from 1990-2005 (arguably til 2010) and the Sox had a good team most of those years. But from 1970-1990 and 2006-present, the farm system has been mostly bad, as has been the team on the field (except for a few short pockets of success) You just can't trade your way to improvement anymore; teams won't give up squat in young talent.
