Daily Recaps in review

So, FutureSox did something new this year - we posted a daily recap of the day's MiLB games (nearly) every day. We had a handful of people involved, though most recently it's been Rob and Daniel, who have done excellent work. With the full season affiliates completing their seasons, the recaps are basically done for the year.

We would love to hear your thoughts on these recaps. Did you find them useful? How often did you read them? Is there anything we can do to enhance them or make them better, for next year?

The readers in this forum are among our core reader base, so your thoughts are important to us. Let's hear your feedback!

I really enjoyed it. Obviously this year there was some more emphasis on the minors from my end, and I hadn't really paid attention to that since 2008 or so. I didn't read every one, however, so I'm not sure if it would be easier to just do a weekly review, but I did read a bunch.

I honestly read the recaps no more then 3 or 4 times all season. That's not because they weren't informative, but rather because I went through every box score by myself anyway. Someone who doesn't have the time or patience to do so would get more use out of it.

But what I DID check quite often was the FutureSox twitter account to see how some guys did each day. I would say damn near every day I would see a tweet, read it, and click the profile to see the other tweets. THEN I would go check the boxscores. The twitter account has been very helpful.

Interesting points. Our Twitter seems to be doing very well, glad you like it.

As for the recaps, if you plan to look at each box score, you can still get something out of the recaps. We have links to all the boxes from there anyway, but we also sometimes put information on the games there that isn't in the box. If there was an injury or ejection, or some interesting info about the game that the box wouldn't reflect, we try to put it in there. So the recap has the box links, and more. Just FYI.

I would agree with this post. I usually look up the box scores myself, so the daily recaps don't really do much for me. However, the tweets have been very enjoyable/informative.

That's a good point, I did find myself typically reading the recap if there was an injury or ejection like you mention.

I thought you guys did a great job with the recaps, they helped add color to the box scores. Thanks for doing it all season long!

as a add on to what I wrote, and to this post. getting info on ALL the levels of sox prospects

was adding to the hype of next yr..... at least for me.

I loved them, and read them everyday. I would say that it would be cool of you guys add video highlights of the games if there is some.

Interesting idea. Sometimes those are available, we could potentially link or embed them. Not sure how hard it would be to do, but we'll definitely make note of that. Thanks.

Same here. I peruse the boxes myself for information, so I typically do not read the recaps.

As far as publications, I think you guys are the most knowledgeable group of people out there when it comes to white sox prospects and the organization as a whole. you know the white sox, and you know baseball. I think this place should be the go to for any diehard sox fan.

Much appreciated. As others have said, I always check all the individual boxes first, but would go straight to your recaps if there was an anomaly in the box, such as a player leaving the game early, looking for info about a player's health, etc. Much appreciated, and great job.
