  1. I just got back from ST. Great experience, I recommend it to everyone. I stayed in Tempe over the weekend and caught the Sox/Cubs and Sox/Brewers games (Sunday & Monday respectively). The Cubs game was packed (~12K) and the environment was great. The Brewers game on Monday was dead (~2K), which made for the best ST Story of All-time! BTW, the Brewers facility outside of Phoenix is top notch. I showed up in the 2nd inning to catch Buehrle's at-bat. He gave a valiant effort grounding out. The Sox fans gave him a rousing ovation (quite entertaining). I decided to join the rest of the fans behind the Sox dugout. During ST the coaches sit outside the dugout in chairs (See Tony's post/pictures), basically right in front of the Sox fans. I wasn't close enough, but I could see Oz talking to some fans and having a good time with them. Then the unthinkable, Ozzie bought the ENTIRE SECTION a round of BEERS! It was hilarious, everyone was throwing IDs at the beer man and he was throwing beers back, with no money being exchanged. That type of thing is what makes ST the best. I'll never forget that experience and for reasons like that this ST won't be my only ST trip. P.S. - I will post some pictures from the my stay in Tempe soon.
  2. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 09:13 AM) its Jon Garland and Rich Hill.... Yeah rough day of work yesterday as you all could tell. Thanks for the info about Sunday's game. Any word on Monday's game?
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 08:24 AM) The coaching staffs don't really decide these things until a day or two before the game. So you could get pitching probables later in the week. Just curious b/c I heard the Cubs announced Rich Harden would be starting against the Sox this Sunday.
  4. I'm going down to ST this week to catch the Cubs game on Sunday and maybe the Brewers game on Monday. Does anybody know who is penciled in to start these games? I looked all over but couldn't find it or maybe I'm just an idiot. Help appreciated.
  5. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Two players I am so sick of hearing about are Bonds and A-Rod. Enough is enough and I will not believe any rumors about the two of them (they change daily) until any deal is officially anounced. Big name players create big rumors. If you're a baseball fan and a fan of a team that potentially could acquire one of the best players in baseball, enjoy it!
  6. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) I would love to have A-Rod, however I don't believe a word of it. I will believe A-Rod going to the Sox when I see it. I'm in agreement, but I figured I'd pass along the information.
  7. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) I have a lot of trust in Uribe's glove. Its also a lot less ground to cover. The Yanks had a lot of confidence in AROD's glove and look what happened there. I'm telling you, don't underestimate the difficulty in switching from SS to 3B.
  8. Why is everyone so pessimistic? It's the hot stove season in baseball, take the rumor and run with it. Furthermore, Kenny's proven over the years that he's capable of everything and anything. I wouldn't put anything past him. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) If Uribe was still on the team, he would play third and A-Rod short. Uribe played pretty good third when given the chance and with that arm would be better than Crede. Just b/c Uribe has a better arm than Crede, doesn't necessarily make him a better 3b. Crede makes some incredible plays on the hot corner. Playing 3b is all about seeing the ball come off the bat and reacting, something Joe does better than the majority of major leaguers. In regards to AROD though, Crede would be traded to the Yanks and J. Fields brought up.
  9. The rumor also included trading Crede to the Yanks, bringing up J. Fields and moving AROD back to shortstop.
  10. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) i would love to get arod and am all for it...but it doesnt seem likely, where did you hear this? I can't reveal my sources....just playing. I heard it on a sports radio station based in Philly.
  11. The rumor now is the reason KW got rid of Garcia in return for little was that it was a salary dump. He's also in the market to dump either Vazquez or Buehrle to free up some money in order to bring in none other than Alex Rodriguez. I'm all for a move of this nature. I understand that pitching wins championships, as was evident in 2005, but the opportunity to bring in A-Rod is a no brainer. He is on track to be the best shortstop in the history of MLB. I think bringing A-Rod in, putting him back at shortstop in a city with a market similar to NY (but not nearly the media frenzy), is just what he needs to revitalize his career. I just hope that Kenny can pull it off and if anyone can, he'd be the one to do it. LET'S GO KENNY!!!!
  12. QUOTE(wsox08 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) I'm going to Philly next month too. Around July 18-20th.. If you have any questions about what to do/see, let me know what your interests are and I will see if I can point you in the right direction.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) Before speaking to him, I looked at the game situation. Common sense told me it was not intentional from that. After speaking to him from his comments, the anger with himself, his ongoing arm issues, and his past record, I'm fine with taking his word for what took place. Are you a reporter Steff? I am semi-new to the site, so I'm not familiar with your credentials. I am not trying to be rude, just curious how you "talked" to Ponson after the game.
  14. QUOTE(salty99 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) Yeah there were alot of Cards fans in attendance. THe only problem I saw is when Pujols walked over to sign a couple autos people were crushing each other so he left. Crazy autograph hounds Humans always trying to make a buck.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) Thanks for the info. You are quite welcome, enjoy your stay in the City of Brotherly Love.
