  1. Oh yeah, I said the trade deadline is over yet because sometimes people speak sa if we are towards the end of the season. It's CALLED SARCASAM
  2. Apperently The ghost of Wayne Tolleson is having his monthly visitor, An example of how someone could loose his confidence and not get it back for a long time is Garland. This season when he had a bad outing he immediately looked towards the dugout like he was going to give up. But, Ozzie left him in their to work it out. Slowly Garland has gain his confidence back. Just the other day Garland was even quoted as telling Ozzie that no matter what "Leave me in to eat innings for our bullpen." Cotts is great but I don't want to wait till next season to have his confidence up again. If you don't think one bad outing can have a negative affect for ever look at Rick Ankiel, superstar to be. Melted in playoffs, never even pitched the same again. Even is injury proan now., :fyou Is that how red your finger is The ghost of Wayne Tolleson?
  3. I thiink that anyone thinking Cotts should be switched as a starter is a fool. Yes his era is good and yes he has shown great stuff, but that's as a reliever. Some people are great relievers and some are great starters. Cotts is doing great outa the bull, so why fix something that isn't broken. The Sox might break him without even realizing they are doing it if he is placed as #5. If you put him out and he gets shelled in his first outing, he will doubt himself for a long time. In the reliever position he has nothing but confidence. If they want to make him a starter, I say work on his stamina till next season or need be later this season, but not now. Platton Diaz, Rauch, or Adkins till one fits or Cotts is the emergency backup. Its 162 games not a sprint. We still have some time to find out. P.S. The trade deadline hasn't ended yet Joe Jackson is the greatest!
  4. Our Outfielders are our starongest point farm wise. We need more pitching
  5. Sorry I couldn't reply faster to my post but The ghost of Wayne Tolleson replied this and now I will answer back I still go to school but by The ghost of Wayne Tolleson The Cubs and Sox rarley compete anymore" --INACCURATE. THE SOX ALMOST MADE THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR, WON THE CENTRAL IN 2000, WOULD HAVE WON IN 1994, WON THE CENTRAL IN 93, AND FINISHED SECOND ALMOST EVERY YEAR TO THE A'S JUGGERNAUT IN THE LATE 80'S, EARLY 90'S. THE CUBS WERE A PLAYOFF TEAM LAST YEAR, ALMOST WENT IN 2001 OR 02, WERE THE WILD CARD IN 1998, WENT TO THE PLAYOFFS IN 1989, AND 1984. DYNASTIES THEY'RE NOT, BUT TO SAY THEY HARDLY COMPETE? RIDICULOUS. My reply YES I SAID ANY MORE YES they did great in the eighties but you only mentioned three competitive seasons in the past FOURTEEN yeas some years were due to injuries BUT YOU STILL HAVEN'T ANSWERED THE QUESTION "We, meaning Chicago, is third largest metropolitan sports venue in the country. Why can't we keep our players? If the amount is reasonable? Mags puts MAnny Ramirez numbers CONSISTENLY. Why can't we the 3rd Largest venue afford him. At least the Cubs try and have an $80 mil payroll. --SURE, IN THE LAST TWO YEARS THEY HAVE. BUT HOW MANY YEARS PRIOR TO THAT WAS WRIGLEY FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH LEMMINGS PAYING $5 A BEER TO WATCH A LOWER-MIDDLE OF THE PACK PAYROLL? MY REPLY I don't care how many years it's been. They turned it around. Jerry is not going to get more people to go by letting our star prospects go and raising ticket prices David Wells, Carl Everett, Alomar, Foulke, etc. --WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FOULKE, (AND EVERETT, WHO FOR THE 900TH f***ING TIME COULD NOT HAVE BEEN RESIGNED REALISTICALLY BECAUSE OF ARBITRATION) THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO RESIGN THE PLAYERS YOU HAVE MENTIONED. DAVID WELLS ONLY SHOWS UP TO PLAY WHEN HE IS ON THE YANKEES, AND ALOMAR IS TEN TIMES WORSE RIGHT NOW THAN EITHER HARRIS OR URIBE(OR D'ANGELO JIMENEZ). CAN'T ARGUE THAT MORE MOVES SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE TO MAKE GOOD TEAMS BETTER, BUT THROWING MONEY AWAY JUST TO PUT UP THE FACADE OF "WE'RE TRYING" IS JUST STUPID. MY REPLY, SCREW ARBITRATION WE ARE THE 3rd LARGEST MARKET WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO AFFORD ANYONE WE WANT yes uribe is doing better now and I believe he will do better in the long run than Jose would do because he is better defensevily and his stats are comparable. I know Jose is clutch but we have enough veterans now where that experience should rub off Plus Uribe is no rookie and has experience Once again WE ARE #3 we don't have to throw money away, just throw it at good pitching WE have a few, you know there names, but a few won't cut it. We have the bats but we need morePitching People originally went to Wrigley because of the scenery and now theyexpect to see good baseball because of additions made --INCORRECT. FANS WENT TO WRIGLEY BECAUSE THE CUBS WERE BROADCAST ON THE NATION'S MOST POWERFUL RADIO STATION, WHICH OWNED ONE OF THE NATION'S LARGEST NEWSPAPERS, AND THE NATION'S FIRST TRULY NATIONWIDE TELEVISION STATION(AND I WILL CEASE USING THE WORD 'NATION' NOW). THIS EXPOSURE CREATED LEGIONS OF FANS THAT NOW TEAM IN BASEBALL, SANS MAYBE THE YANKEES OR DODGERS CAN MATCH. AS THE CUBS PLODDED THROUGH THE GARBAGE YEARS DURING MOST OF THE 80'S AND 90'S, WRIGLEY WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE NEAR AS FILLED IF IT WEREN'T STATIONED SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN UPPER-CLASS NEIGHBORHOOD WITH A HUGE POPULATION DENSITY COMPRISED OF UPPER 20, LOWER 30-SOMETHINGS WITH NO SPOUSE/KIDS AND LOTS OF DISPOSABLE INCOME. MY REPLY Legions of fans were crerated by Sammy Sosa in his home run chase I don't care where there games were broadcasted no one like a loser unless some was there to grasp and they grasped Sosa, the ivey, the lovelable loser image, the curse, and most of all THE CLASSIC WRIGLEY FIELD. WHY DO YOU THINK EVERYTHING IS GOING GREEN AND NOT BLUE ANYMORE AT COMISKEY Steinbrener turned his wallet upside in mid 90's and now the Yanks are "America's Team" --STEINBRENNER DIDN'T EXACTLY "TURN HIS WALLET UPSIDE-DOWN." HE SIGNED THAT HUGE DEAL WITH THE CABLE COMPANY, AND THAT GAVE HIM A HUGE NEW REVENUE STREAM TO WORK WITH. EVERYONE BUT YANKEE FANS HATES THE YANKEES, CALLING THEM "AMERICA'S TEAM" IS A STRETCH AT BEST, LUDICROUS AT WORST. All TEAMS RECEIVED $50 million AT THE START OF THE YEAR:lol:
  6. We, meaning Chicago, is third largest metropolitan sports venue in the country. AND ALL OF OUR TEAMS SUCK! I LOVE the Bears, root for the bulls, :finger the Cubbies, and will always be a lifer when it comes to the Sox. Win or lose I have always loved the Sox. But Jerry Reinsdorf is an old school owner. Our payroll of around $60 million is self emposed. All teams were given $50 million to start off the year as part of the revenue sharing plan. Add in that our city is number three for money markets. Being number three shouldn't we follow a ratio law and have all of our teams at least be in the top five every year. WHERE ARE OUR DYNASTIES? The Cubs and Sox rarley compete anymore. At least the Cubs try and have an $80 mil payroll. Kenny Williams bust has ass off every year and makes deals for superstars to come to chicago mid year, but Reinsdorf never resigns them. I know some of these names I am going to metion had bad seasons here but we never gave them a second chance, and their careers prove that they should have bounced back and been great again but we never even tried because of cheapness ( I am only going to use recent names). David Wells, Carl Everett, Alomar, Foulke, etc. Some of you will say that the Cubs get most fan support, but I have news for you, Chicago is full of fair weather fans. Nothing wrong with that. People originally went to Wrigley because of the scenery and now theyexpect to see good baseball because of additions made. If jerry can keep and sign great players I guarantee Comiskey Park would be filled again. Remember when the Yankees were doing bad in 80's & early 90's, nobody went to their games. Steinbrener turned his wallet upside in mid 90's and now the Yanks are "America's Team"
  7. Cal was and is great. He proves that heart, hard work, and confidence can make up for any set back. If only some natural athletes had his work ethic we would be better off now.
  8. Aparently a lot of people don't know the real story of the fix of 1919 Movies are just that movies PLease go to this sight It is a sight for true baseball fans who love baseball & it's history http://www.pubdim.net/baseballlibrary/ Look up Joe Jackson It will tell you anything about any player, the teams they played for, & they have links to articles from as far back as 1919 that will prove he was innocent and a lot of the other players. Jackson was even going to testify against the Swede, & had to have armed guards because his life was threatened. This is the baseball library not some temple to the Sox. This is the truth and a lot of the articles will prove that Charlie "ASSHOLE" Comiskey was actually one of the bad guys. He used his friendship with Judge to ban the players because he was embarressed over the whole scene. Jackson even told Comiskey about the fix. He testified that this was so. So once again history proves that Comiskey f***ed us out of the GREATEST DYNASTY THAT SHOULD OF BEEN! :fyou COMISKEY AND ANYONE WHO LICKS HIS STRAP
  9. I to have doubts. I know Koch was great last year but Foulke was great two years ago ranked number two after the bar of comparison in Rivera. I think Foulke still has it & he justed needed a time to work it out. Koch has proved to be a great closer but I still had loyalty to Foulke because he loved this team and city. Koch does have the South Side attitude though of not taking any s*** and if someone questions him he gives the South Side Answer to all questions :fyou
  10. He is a good player but not the greatest Sox ever. What about Shoeless, Weaver, Collins, Fisk, Baines
  11. His agent is a Sox hater anyway :fyou
  12. I don't have that problem. I married a fine ass and get it whenever I want. Just one of the bonuses to being married. Just don't grab an ugly one or you'll be stuck jerkin' forever
  13. Absolutly. I always like Belle and they ripped him apart. Every player who ever played with him said he was one of the hardest working players they ever new. I still wear his jersey to games
  14. I said he was going to have a good year but at the sacrifice of a possibly great season. I do apologize I forgot that 5th option of keeping him. I was typing while listening to the game Sorry Rookie mistake
  15. I said he still has good years but he has obviousely already rehashed problems from last year. Everyone wants to give him another chance but he just slaps everyone in the face
