  1. Brad got his cast removed a couple of weeks ago and the hand is feeling normal. He was sent to Great Falls out of extended and will be starting at SS and batting 8th tonight in the Voyagers opening day in Helena.
  2. Just a quick update on Salgado.....Brad showed a big increase in his power at the plate this spring and batted over .350 for the entire time. Because his Bristol season was less than stellar last year with a below par average and an elevated strikeout total it was nice to see that the old Brad was back at the plate. His play at SS was solid as usual. His spring was extended again this year and last week he took a high fastball to the back of his left hand. Yep....broken. He'll be in a cast for 4 weeks and a splint and rehab after that. His dad told me that it sounds like he will be fine but it puts a damper on an otherwise great spring.
  3. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) I'm pretty sure SoxAce just meant he hasn't performed well in games as a pro, but he is still a prospect because of his age and other things you eluded to. Ok, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. However, there is a big difference between saying how "terrible he is" and saying that he is not performing well at the plate. You know how stats are though, they never tell the whole story which is why I said that SoxAce didn't really know much about him.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) He is technically a prospect. Not his fault he's rotting in low A when he raking (or as you said.. the politics). He is 24. Usually the ending/cut off of a "prospects" age (depending on who you ask) is 25-26. He might not be a top prospect (one of those guys you keep an eye on), but he is a prospect. Hell, he is one year older than Kevan Smith who was drafted this year and is in Bristol. (who I, as well as others here, like alot) As terrible as Bradley Salgado is (and yes I'm being harsh on him) he is still a prospect cause of his age. Goes both streets. "As terrible as Bradley Salgago is"? How can you call a young player (19) who is fresh out of high school, knocked the cover off the ball all spring and has oustanding defense "terrible"? You obviously don't know too much about him or you would know what he is capable of. Yes, his avg is not what it should be right now but he puts his bat on the ball almost every at bat and during this last losing (2 and 5) road trip, brought his average up 40 points. He's young, plays with guys 3-5 yrs older than him, has no college ball experience and is the starting shortstop. Probably not "terrible".
  5. Spent this past weekend at Camelback Ranch and I have to tell you, the new batch of A and high A Sox players are HUGE! I dont think I saw a player below 6'3" all weekend. Anyway, after being asked to pick his Kannapolis jersey number, the White Sox brass has decided to extend Salgado's spring training and send him to Great Falls to start the season. He had a great spring training but probably because of his age (19), they want him to get more at bats and playing time. Neither of which he would probably get in Kannapolis. Probably best for the long term development.
